Freeper Research Project: Freeper personality tests
Jung Personality Test ^ | February 23, 2006 | Alamo-Girl

Posted on 02/23/2006 9:20:32 AM PST by Alamo-Girl

Would you like to learn a little more about yourself and your fellow posters on Free Republic? If so, you might enjoy this Freeper Research Project.

It began on another thread where people were testing themselves for “nerdiness”. Great fun was had by all.

Along the way, Freeper patton posted a link to the Jung personality test.

What an adventure! I took the test for the first time and found out I am an INFJ (I=44, N=75, F=25, J=25).

Because we were sharing the results of our tests on that thread, I was pleasantly surprised to discover three other Freepers with the same personality type. And, naturally, being curious – some of us went to yet another link to find out what the code means and what famous people are INFJs:

Type Logic

The strange part is that INFJ’s are the smallest in the general population, but among those posting on the thread, INFJs were in the majority. Does that mean that INFJ’s are drawn to Free Republic or to those kinds of tests, or are more willing to discuss such things?

At any rate, it is a delightful musing about this forum, the posters we are drawn to (or against): does the Jung personality test have anything useful to say to us?

If you are interested or perhaps would just like to have some fun, take the test and check out the results. And if you’re willing, post your results here on this thread so that we can all “compare notes”.

The results so far:

INFJ: Indy Pendance, Knitting a Conundrum, Grey-whiskers, Alamo-Girl

INTJ: John O (67,62,25,67), hosepipe (11,50,19,56), Cyclopean Squid (44,100,62,56)

INTP: marron

ENFJ: .30Carbine (1,50,75,22) , phantomworker (39,57,40,12)

<< ps - are we supposed to include our professions/jobs/callings now? >>

That was the original goal. I was going to post a new thread with the table where people could either give their occupations, or freepmail it to whoever could keep the table updated. (Many people, including myself, aren't going to say their occupations in public.) But the data is already outdated because I got held up by several things and so the table should probably be updated before it's posted. (My, you people sure are a talkative bunch, aren't you?!)

It wouldn't take much work, but it would take some time. All that's needed is a few trusted Freepers -- one could be the 'note-taker' via freepmail and feed it to another who was the HTML quiz, which I'm not. Do like I did and cheat by using FrontPage. It would be MOST interesting to know what type of jobs are in each category, don't you think? (That was Alamo-girl's idea, so don't give me credit!) The earliest I could get to this would be next weekend. By then it'll be 'old news.'

Also, it would be more interesting if the table had a short synopsis of each MB Type somewhere in there. Give me a few more minutes and I could think of a dozen other possibilities. LOL!

Then again, someone could just cut & paste the table and start the new thread now "as is." Regardless, I'm unable to stick around for the fun. :-(

Hey, someone ping all those INTJs -- THEY'LL do it. LOL. Give them a few ENTJs (Fieldmarshalls) and they'll have it done in no time. Besides, I'm just the Architect. I did my job, right?

(I'm sorry to bail on you, Alamo-Girl. I really enjoyed your wonderful creation here -- you're a great Mentor! Oh, and they may need a Counselor to keep them from killing each other!)

I'm INTJ- 81 69 50 17

Thanks for reminding me of one more thing I wanted to say: It helps the formatter a lot when a reply is written like yours is. It cuts down on the cutting & pasting, back and forth, back and forth. This may be even better:

INTJ
ClearBlueSky (81 69 50 17)

Okay, now i have to go. Be sure your name gets on the table!

You nneed to read about us Masterminds - we hang back to see if anyone steps up to the task and only take it on when no-one else does (or does it to our satisfaction).

but most interesting are relative populations:

rationalists: General Population 5-7% ; FR (thru your table) 53%

Guardians: GP 40-45% ; FR 20%

Idealists: GP 8-10% ; FR 24%

Artisans: GP 35-40% ; FR 3%

FR is wayyyy heavy with Rationalists and to lesser extent Idealists, while underpopulated with Guardians and apparently of almost no interest to artisans (or do they tend to get zotted ???? )

anyway - am half tempted to update your table with postings appearing after you left off tallies - but really untempted to recheck your work. we'll see. Still, thanks so much for your work putting it together. It certainly has me curious about our population. I wonder where our benefactor and the admins show up on the scales .. ??

Hmmm, that is really kind of weird.

The human mind is so incredibly complex and the study of personality types is a fascinating field. I chose to study law and don't regret it.

But I think I would have enjoyed studying psychiatric medicine as an alternative.

It's incredibly interesting to see how the folks we've interacted with for years at this forum have scored in this test. We're not a monolithic group of people by any means, yet there are some interesting tendencies.

It would be fun to see how the various personality types here compare in percentages to the national average.

Does anyone know how the general population breaks down?

Like everything else in life, there seems to not be an easy answer.  I found several sites that claimed to know:

ISTJ:	12-16%
ISFJ:	10-13%
INFJ:	2-3%
INTJ:	3-4%
ISTP:	5-7%
