Political strategist Paul Begala is urging Democrats to open their wallets on a monthly basis to help reelect New York Sen. Hillary Clinton - who already has a campaign warchest of $21 million.
"I'm asking you to join Team Hillary as a monthly supporter - to help make sure we have the means to fight back, each and every month, right on through the coming election," Begala says, in an email distributed to Mrs. Clinton's supporters.
The email links to a request that donors sign up for a monthly contribution of up to $250 to be automatically deducted from their credit cards.
Despite her already overflowing campaign coffers, Begala does his best to make it sound like Hillary's reelection bid is in dire straits.
"The Republican attack machine is going after Hillary Clinton big-time," he complains, adding, "There's one thing they excel at: the politics of personal destruction." He warns that the GOP has gone so far as to enlist notorious political pit bull, first lady Laura Bush, who recently scorched Hillary by calling her attacks "out of bounds."
Worse still, says the top Clinton aide, Hillary's opponent, John Spencer, recently "met with the White House and was told that he had their full support."
Of course, Begala doesn't mention that Spencer's campaign warchest had just crossed the $1 million mark - less than five percent of what Hillary has to work with.
Instead, he warns that unless Democrats dig deep and pony up every 30 days, the GOP's attempt to "silence the strongest, smartest voice we have in the Senate" may succeed.
Wait a minute, is Zell Miller back?
Fund Team Hillary? I'd rather join the ACLU or NAMBLA -- less dangerous in the long run.
Translation...Paul Begala needs part of the action
She doesn't need cash. She needs a facelift, lipo and a zipper in her face.
She needs more than that, brain transplant and some major body work.
No problem, she can just invest what she has in cattle futures. In one year she'll be able to buy that port deal from the UAE.
Oh, yea! I think I'll withdraw Johnny's college fund right away!
Yep--no one I can think deserves it more and no better spokes(person) than Begala.
Yep. I'm now proceeding to the fridge for my nineteenth beer this morning.
Mrs. Bill hicup Clinton hicup. Yea--she's wha these country needssssssssss.
Begala is a political remora.
Well, I'd rather they fund Hillary, who has no serious opposition, than someone in a competitive or open seat. Spend your money now on Hillary, Dems!!!
Good luck with that, Mr. Forehead. The DUmmy/ Move-On/ Kos-Kid moonbats who hold the purse-strings have decided she's not enough of a frothing Jacobin loony for them.
Not a single sou, not so much as a kopek!
This reminds me of Clinton's legal bills.
They were payoffs to friends of bill's who would have done the work for free. The Clinton's will take all the money they can. Excuses are provided for those who need some stupid reason.
Yup, strongest is right. All braun and no brains.
Not a Slobbovian Rasbucknik.
Is Newsmax using Scrappleface as a source? Notorious political pit bull?
Instead, he warns that unless Democrats dig deep and pony up every 30 days, the GOP's attempt to "silence the strongest, smartest voice we have in the Senate" may succeed.
I think I would rather donate every 30 days for Begala's psychiatric medication. He is seriously detached from reality. If he had said Hillary was the "loudest, shrillest voice" he would have a point.
Hillary is just ten dollars away from running?
