Franks is making a devastating case for the UAW. UAE was the first nation to offer financial aid after Katrina. Excellent intelligent capability. Linkage with Taliban provided intel on AQ. UAE is flying Apaches. They are a voice for moderation in the ME.

Because of their links to the Taliban, we got information on them. Franks says these guys are absolutely no threat to us.

Franks: UAE offered first $100 million to help Katrina victims.

He mentions several Arab countries who have helped in the WOT but UAE is at the top of the list. They've helped before 9/11.

Their linkage with the Taliban has provided the US with the best source of information about the Taliban that we've had.

We sold them our Apache helicopters and some other plane years ago. They represent moderation in the Middle East and we've worked with them for years.

A couple of soldiers, who asked to remain anonymous, said the UAE are wonderful to work with. They take great care of our troops over there.

I will look forward to it. My guess is that much of this boils down to communication. This Administration gets a C- for communication. You, a communication "specialist" need to convince your buddies in the White House that they have to do a better job communicating. It is not enough to simply be right; in a democracy [OK, a republic] the leaders must also convince the public that they are right.

That makes total sense to me. There is a very serious multi-level chess game going on over there. There is no black and white. Why can't people see this? Maybe because we are not supposed to know how intelligence works, but I read and I get what is allowed out there.

Gen. Franks: We're looking at a whole bunch of lawmakers who are profiling everyone from the Middle East when they won't permit profiling on people who ride on our own airlines. At the end of the day the UAE is going to wind up our friends. We have to be able to recognize the difference between being an ally and being an enemy..
