Wow, one of the first up today! I've changed my opinion on this UAE port deal, I'm with Tony (and Tommy Franks) now.
batchlor was reporting last night that this story is more about inefficient unions, since it was the miami lawsuit of the firm that lost the bid for this deal that got this story going.
Good morning, early birds. It's a busy day. Bill Bennett had Chris Hitchens on this morning. They are going to "demonstrate" at the Danish embassy. I hope some of our guys join them. Tommy Franks has no problem with the port deal, and I have alot of faith in Tommy Franks.
:-) Morning!
Have I expressed how much I love this thread? Cool heads, open to discussion not flame throwing and knee-jerkitis!
After sifting through mountains of paper and doing acres of research, the port story doesn't seem like a big issue. But Tony will address any concerns.
Tony may want to look at these articles explaining the important role the UAE plays in the operation of HAMAS. On the HAMAS front, please read "welcoming terror to US Ports.

:-) Thanks, Bahbah! Good morning!
PS Tommy Franks's opinion means a lot.

Built To Last

When explorers entered Peru, they found huge, impressive buildings that may have been standing for 2,000 years. These ancient Inca structures were built of hand-hewn rocks of different sizes and shapes. Some were 3-sided, some 4-sided, and some 7-sided. Without the use of mortar, they were fitted together so perfectly that they stood for many centuries, even through earthquakes.
God builds His church in much the same way. The Bible pictures the church of Jesus Christ as a building, and each believer is a block in that building. Peter said that we, "as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house" (1 Peter 2:5). And Paul said that we are "being joined together" (Ephesians 2:21) and "are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit" (v.22).
People with a variety of backgrounds, abilities, interests, and needs make up Christ's church, so uniting in a common purpose is not an easy process. Yet when we let the Lord do His work among us, shaping us and assigning our place in the structure, we become part of a strong, solid edifice.
Yes, we are all different. But God is building an enduring church. The magnificent Inca buildings will eventually crumble, but the church is built to last. Dave Egner
The permanence of the church is based on the character of the Builder.
LOL! No I Win!
LOL LOL LOL!
Have a happy day, conservative corner! Don't get too worked up, things aren't as haywire as they may seem to you. :-)
:-) Good morning, Mayor!
Prolly not. Unless they can demonstrate some basic ability to master the facts. (The interview yesterday with P King comes to mind, but I digress.)
I think we ought to collect bone-headed quotes on the port issue. Now that the story is beginning to die a slow death, the funnier quotes are coming out.
My favorite, so-far today, was from Joe Biden appearing on F & F. When asked if his opinion had changed since Tommy Franks had spoken up about the UAE, Biden said that he still had reservations. Apparentely Joe Biden believes that if a dirty bomb is sent into an American port, it will be written on a bill of lading. And because of that, it is dangerous for us to have this an Emirates company responsible for that paperwork.
Isn't it refreshing!
LOL. Some get smarter as they get older and some don't.
Morning.
I get most of my information right here off Free Republic. That in itself might not be a smart thing to admit, but from what I have gathered here
1. This thing has been around for 5 months.
2. The reason most of us havent heard about it is that there is a law saying deals like this are to remain secret till they are done. Now the Dems helped pass that law.
3.There are a lot of things tied in with this including us using ports in the Middle East controlled by UAE
4.This isnt all that big a deal.
5. The Democrats had a hand in this deal from the beginning.
Now nothing I have stated here isnt available in the Free Republic Archives.
