Hmm, who should I trust, an outstanding General with decades of military experience, or a blowhard radio commentator(michael weiner) or a keyboard commando who thinks she kills terrorists by writing from behind a keyboard(michelle malkin).

I'll go with Gen. Franks.

RINO! /sarc

I knew this BS story would begin to crumble soon, but I didn't think THIS soon.

I predict a lot of FReepers who've been shouting "Franks in '08!" will be altering their taglines after this.

Franks knows who the good guys are over there, but this will continue to be a firestorm the Democrats and some GOP will play to the hilt.

The question is with all the controls available to Homeland Security, is it really more dangerous to have these people owning it?

Give a choice between trusting General Franks and Chuck Schumer, and its a no-brainer.

Well, that depends: Is this Gen. Frank's freely offered wisdom or is it bought and paid for? DPW has reportedly hired former Sen. Bob Dole as a mouth on their behalf, maybe they also purchased a General to go with their Senator and President.

Gotta agree with you, Dane. Democracy has gone too far here; we need to just declare martial law and let the generals craft policy.

...never cease to amaze me all the guys who turn into groupies in bobby socks when a General starts yapping..

I'd already made up my mind on this and avoided most of these threads, but I liked what General Franks had to say.

Both Hannity & Colmes were sputtering.Time to change the name of the show to KneeJerk & Jerk.

Been there, seen it, lived it, and the General is right - again.
Now, Mr. Santorum, please sit down and get off the grandstand stage...

By the end of the month, Vannity will still be stuck on stupid, Congress will be backpedalling, and the rest of us will have moved on to bigger and better pressing matters.

Dubai is a cover for the mullahs of Iran. Seventy-five families who have stolen billions from Iranians now own over 7,000 businesses, major banks and hotels in the UAE. Dubai has been involved laundering money to Hamas. The UAE is one of the few governments in the world to recognize the Taliban as legitimate. There are two military ports in Texas that will be turned over to Dubai Ports World to operate. This port deal was done in secret which violates U.S. law. John Snow has financial ties to the originating entity, which is a major conflict of interest. By law, Congress has 45 days to review this deal and will have hearings about everything that, thus far, has gone on secretly.

I am in favor of a full investigation in accordance with U.S. law.

Being that I am VERY familiar with DP World's work and how it operates, I did not drink the Kool Aid on this issue. Gaffney and Malkin, two folks I otherwise respect, have some 'splainin to do, as Desi Arez would have said.

Schumer is a twerp with a congenital hatred of Arabs and a blind hatred of the administration. Hillary is even worse, an opportunist who used this occassion to "butch up" her stance on foreign policy. The fact that so many on this site and in the blogosphere took their bait really indicates to me that we really are the stupid party.

As I said before, Dubai is the Vegas, Scottsdale, and Monaco of the Middle East rolled into one. Sheik Makhtoum deserves a lot of credit for demostrating that the free market is compatible with Arab culture, as well as for his admiration and support of the U.S. DP World, much like Emirates, is perhaps the best run port management company in the world, even better than Menzies. The fact that third rate radio jockeys like Michael Savage keep reporting this as the "Arabs are taking over our ports" when, in reality, it was merely a minor outsourcing of duties unrelated to port security, shows how sensationalistic and ignorant the talking heads are, even on "conservative talk radio."

Dubai (more so than the rest of the UAE), Qatar, Kuwait, and Bahrain are the only Arab states with relatively sane governments and a foreign policy that see America as a partner, more so than a sheep to be fleeced (a la the semiliterate camel herders in Riyadh). Whatever one thinks of Arab culture and the Islamic faith, we must keep in mind that we still need allies in that area if our grand scheme of a stable and open Middle East will prevail in the future.
