Russia has a history of attempting to take down the US and there have been some elected in the US that are of the same mind. ==

Russia or Soviet Union? Accually Russian czars always supported United States in past. Tried to incerase cooperation even slod Alaska to US.
Soviet chiefs were not russians neither were elected by russians. You should understand that.

I do keep hearing that the Soviets were not Russian by birth, however, it was Russia proper, Moscow where the Soviet headquarters were. Russia did maintain the Soviet seat at the UN when the Soviet Union collapsed.

Just as the Clintons gave the world the perception they represented America at large, and sadly the majority of Americans always appeared to poll in their favor.

Putin is no czar, even though he and others might try and portray him as such. Further Putin reigns more like a Soviet than a czar.

You bring up the Russian Alaska sale. Wasn't it considered a "folly" that our government agreed to buy that vast piece of wilderness, and who benefits most this day with our liberal thinking left preventing US from spot drilling. Sure is not the American people, and I am not buying these leftists are really concerned about the caribou.

The capital of Russia before bolshevick Civil war was SaintPetersburg not Moscow. Moscow' Kremlin was the headquater of Partriarch. Bolshevicks evicted Partriarch and took his place.
They did as occupiers.

Iraq continues to maintain thier seat in UN after the goverment of Sddam Hussein. So what? Does it mean that today Iraqi goverment is same as Saddam's?

So who did the "Bolshevik" civil war consist of? How did the Russian people have a civil war in their midst and not be a party to it?

Not quite the same comparison, Iraq never sat on the permanent 5, like the Soviet Union did. Yet when the Soviets fell off the wall Russia got, maintained, no discussion about who would should or could be the proper replacement for the permanent seat. Now you want to point the finger that it was not Russia that were Soviets then why did Russia get their seat.

Russians were party in it. One side: There were anti-bolshevick White movement leaded and supported by ethnic russians. And there were international communist movement which went against whites.
History of Civil war is great history which contradict with some propaganda mythes. That is why the westerners pay no attention to it.

You can still buy AK-47's from Russia. Russia has very large stores of them in their armories.

No. Russia has some AKM in armories. It is advanced model then AK-47.
But the most caliber of russian Kalashnikovs is 5.45. It means AK-74M.
AK-47 you may find around the world in dozens of countries but IMHO hardly in Russia. Anyways AK-47 is first and oldest model of AK.

Since the Kalashnikov design bereau and designers works in Russia then Russia has the modest Kalashnikov rifles in the world. AK-74M and AK-10X serie.

If I was Colombia:

I would buy or rent a few of the latest American helicopters.

America should quit sending outdated and cannibalized equipment to Colombia.

Colombia needs to have the latest equipment to fight the coming war that Hugo Chavez will instigate to keep himself in office for life.

Why?.. Veneuzela is becoming Hugo's Afganistan.. same mentality imported..

The central state control mentality is frought with blind spots and inefficiency.. The more he ARMS "the people" the more his backside hangs out.. Hugo is an ignorant peasant.. Africa maybe is more accurate.. Veneuzela is like an African country.. A consortium of MOBS.. Don't take much to get the MOBS fighting each other.. As Hugo gets more Stuff other Mobsters will start to get jealous.. Fidel don't care he can deal with the next Hugo just like he did with the current one.. Fidel understands mobism.. completely.. As do American democrats.. and not a few RINOs..

Look at the map. I wonder if Hugo Chavez is trying to become the dominant military power in Latin America. It would be interesting to see if he makes a move against another Latin American country.

Perhaps, he would get into a dispute with Colombia over drugs.

Colombia has the population of 44,531,434.

Venezuela has the population of 25,375,281.

Does anyone have statistics on their militaries? Colombia's military is battle hardened from decades of fighting with FARC. One scenario I could see is Hugo Chavez would intervene in Colombia to help FARC with military assistance. In response, Colombia will invade Venezuela with American aid. This may be how Hugo Chavez would finally lose power ten years from now.
