Justice Has Gone NUMB in California Terri Winchell's murderer lives another day...

Michael Morales, the man who raped and killed Terri Winchell, a seventeen year-old girl in 1981 was supposed to be put to death early Tuesday morning, February 21, just after midnight. He was not. The man who used a hammer in smashing the young girl’s head in twelve times and then stabbing her an additional four times in the heart was AGAIN supposed to be lethally injected later on that same Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Again, he was not. His execution has now been stayed indefinitely. It may take months to finalize justice for Terri Winchell, or, if someone does not legally step in and exercise the power of common sense when it comes to loopholes in the criminal justice system, there may be no justice at all.

Why?

Because the state of California cannot figure out a way to HUMANELY put this vicious murderer to death.

I am trying to keep a straight face while I type this article. The only thing that is preventing me from laughing out loud is the anger that is burning inside of me.... [more]

"Because the state of California cannot figure out a way to HUMANELY put this vicious murderer to death. "

When the prisoner goes to sleep at night, pump enough carbon monoxide into his cell to kill him while he sleeps.

End of problem. Or while he is sleeping put a bullet in his head.

Our justice system is an evil joke. Starkweather was put to death six months after his killing spree. Fugate should have gone too. If there is absolute evidence that a person has committed a crime and in some cases even confessed, if the jury has found them guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt, they do not deserve an appeal. I say go from the court room to the killing room and SEND THEIR BLOODY SOULS TO HELL.

Give the bastard a bottle of Jack Daniels and lock him in the garage with a car running. He'll just get drunk and go to sleep, and nobody has to inject him with anything.

Bring back the hangman and the gallows and hang him in front of the judge.

You're absolutely right. The aphorism fits perfectly. Everytime we show so much more compassion for trash than we do for the lives of people, the value of our lives is diminished. is an expression of many things. One of them is an expression that the value of the human being destroyed was so great, that we are willing to impose the ultimate penalty on the perp. This is the core of civilization.

It is very sad to see that criminals receive more justice than the victim does. Makes me question if there is any real justice any more.

I'm gonna say it anyway. While the state tries to find some dufus to give that murdering bastard a lethal injection, why not starve and dehydrate his worthless ass? From what I heard, it's euphoric.

I saw Teri Winchell's father on the news this morning. How much more do these people have to endure until justice is done for their little girl?

They should show the crime scene photos on TV every single day and night until people are so disgusted and enraged that they demand his death, further than has already been demanded by the Death Penalty, which is having trouble being enforced by the swine of CA.

Nah. Lock him in a room and withold food and water. We can use Judge Greer as the trump card. Lock, set and barrel.

Vulcan mind meld. I was thinking the same thing.

Every human being is an entire world... and irreplaceable. If we don't punish the murderer, we're saying in effect the loss of the human being who was murdered doesn't matter to us... that that loss is not irreplaceable. The point is innocent human life is sacred and Judge Fogel has overlooked that. That is is exactly what the death penalty is meant to uphold. Its a principle as old as civilization.

I won't ask how you know that. Good idea, though. This guy needs to go. Now.

More like 25 years ago. Our justice system is a joke and judges wonder why people despise them. They have the arrogance to rewrite our laws and tell us to do things that are not required. They're more dangerous than the criminals the laws are meant to punish. I marvel at the Twilight Zone quality of it all. Its unreal.

I think the killer should be executed in the same manner as the person whose life he took. Morales should be raped, hit in the head with a hammer 12 times and then stabbed 4 times in the heart.

"Ok, now the thing is they can't find a DOCTOR"

I could be wrong but I think judge Fogel had that in mind when he set the new conditions. I also think it's possible the two doctors who backed out at the last minute could have had their own agenda.

The inmate can become conscious during the execution and experience a "suffocating" death that can last 8-12 minutes. Regardless of what the convicted murderer has done, I don't believe that as a civilized society we should be using execution methods that cause unnecessary suffering.

The death penalty is supposed to be a deterrent to crime right ? Maybe if we let them suffer a little it would be even more of a deterrent.

IMHO, cruel and unusual is a relative term, and civilized does not mean squeamish.

The "justice" we have in this country is for the rich who can afford good lawyers and for the vermin who become the lastest cause celebre for Hollyweird and the liberal loonie fringe.

Even when goodness prevails it does so at the expense of the innocent in order to line the pockets of the lawyers.
