For me it is a big deal when the Republican Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee expresses concern, not in the results but in how the decision was reached.
I am not comforted by Michael Chertoff's assurances, because he gave us the same assurances about FEMA during hurricane Katrina. I am not comforted by assurances from Sect. Snow [not our own] who unlike his predecessor NEVER disagrees with Pres. Bush. I am not comforted by Pres. Bush threatening the veto before the discussion reached that level. [Why didn't he threaten the veto to stave off the extravagant spending in Congress.]

I am curious as to why the president is so adament on this and not on other issues. It must be deeper than we think. Or he is throwing down the gauntlet to find out who stands where in Congress and to get them to express it in public. I just think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion and that the DIMs are "playing on our fears" once again.
