That bunch of crass goobers run pretty good election campaigns, but outside of that I wouldn't trust most of 'em to run a Lemonade stand.
I've already said this on various threads a few times, so I'll uppercase it in lieu of getting hoarse:
THE ONLY THING SCHUMER AND THE DIMS WANT OUT OF THIS IS TO SET UP A TSA FOR PORT FACILITIES, AND IF THEY CAN PUT A THUMB IN BUSH'S EYE IN THE BARGAIN, THAT'S JUST A BONUS.

Sounds like many of us were CORRECT yesterday in NOT jumping to conclusions like many in this room and many Conservative Talk Show Hosts.
THANK YOU TONY for getting it straight. God Bless!!! Where are the SHIP JUMPERS THIS MORNING? Drowning in their own hype I suppose....

I am curious as to why the president is so adament on this and not on other issues. It must be deeper than we think. Or he is throwing down the gauntlet to find out who stands where in Congress and to get them to express it in public. I just think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion and that the DIMs are "playing on our fears" once again.

"You can be assured that before a deal is approved,
we put safeguards in place, assurances in place, that make everybody comfortable that we are where we need to be from a national security viewpoint," Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff told ABC's "This Week."
The above statement shows that apparently someone had securtiy concerns!

In any affair in which one must deal with less then ideal persons, you must ask yourself this question. "Would you rather have a skunk on the outside of the tent pissing in, or on the inside pissing out?" A bit coarse, but a political lesson I was taught by a master of Machiavelli.

Hi Miss Marple
You have been involved in some brilliant threads and posts lately and I would like to thank you for what you are doing.
Here a few ideas, concepts etc. I have been developing over the past few days reading numerous threads, t.v and talk radio.
Dubai/UAE is a tiny arab country surrounded by the likes of Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the rest of th usual suspects, players.
They may be playing both sides of the WOT in the fashion that Saudi Arabia does, but they have been a tremendous help to us in the war WOT.
They are a huge banking center and since their small country is the elite among a bunch of camel jockey countries all the other "elites" be it moslems, Americans, Europeans or whatever congregates to Dubai for the best of the best.If you have a choice of living in a tent or a 4 star a/c hotel room you go to Dubai.
Their banking center is huge. They are equal opportunity and treat everyone the same sort of Swissesque. They have been more than forth coming to us on the WOT we need to respect that encourage that and not turn them off.
Britain wants to get out of the port management business. No one wants to deal with the unions they are assholes, little money is made in managing the ports thats why no one is lined up to do the job. It sucks. No one want to be in it, Dubai is already in it and to keep from being eaten up by competition they are buying the Britts out.
We come off as racists by not wanting the sale to go through. Plus we screw the British, the only reliable ally we have had in the WOT.
Supporting the deal of the British selling out to the UAE is in the nat. interest of the country and will help us in the WOT.
It's impossible now to check every container we need willing partners in the wot to help get the job done.
It took me five days to figure it our but GW is doing the right thing on this issue.
It helps to have a little confidence in our President. Otherwise it is all to easy to pass this off as a giant miscue which it is "not".

It's not by accident. There is something she wants or wants to do to the administration or she would have stayed in the woodwork where she belongs.

Works for me. Schumer is against it? Why? That should have been everyone's first clue. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. And Carter supports it, which is also a clue so "checkmate." This entire issue is making my head hurt.

It kinda wigged out digitally during the commercial and then I heard nothing, so I quickly went back to WKRC.

The fact that the deal had to be approved by the Committee shows there are always security concerns when you are talking about ports. The point is they were asked and answered.
