Novel Program Treats Women Who Batter Men
FOXNEWS ^ | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 | Wendy McElroy

Darlene Hilker is an unusual woman. It is not because she was caught up in domestic violence; that's a common crime.

Nor is it because she was the abuser; research increasingly reveals that men are often victims of domestic violence.

She is unusual because, on a judge's order, the Florida woman became one of the first to be enrolled in the Women Who Batter intervention program run by Domestic Abuse Shelter Homes. The 26-week program is being watched as a potential model for use nationwide.

Most men do their anger management while in jail,or on probation after entering a plea. Did this woman cop to a crime? Was she convicted of a crime? I get the feeling her program is noncustodial. Did the courts issue the husband a restraining order? Does the woman have to stay away from the marital home? Has she been denied unsupervised visitation with any children they have, if she has visitation at all? Because if none of that has happened, the article is just blowing smoke.

I work with a guy whose wife hits him when she's in a fury (nuts I think). He is a great big guy, and the other guys in the office think it's funny. Why that's funny to them I don't know.

Women who feel comfortable hitting the men in their lives often deal with their children the same way. Most men can handle (but shouldn't have to) the physical abuse from a woman. The real danger is how she treats a 4 year-old.

I know a guy- two-service veteran, can handle himself, who had to put up with that. To his credit, the most he'd ever do would be to fend off her attacks. She'd use weapons on him- things out of the kitchen.

Man attacking woman, woman attacking man, it's all the same. I hate that crap with a passion. If it happens one time- it's time to get out. There's nothing funny about it at all.

And it all starts with words, which isn't politically correct but it's true

Most domestic abuse done by women is done by weapons such as knives and other sharp edged kitchen utensils. I would think that most men don't handle being stuck with a butcher knife or carving fork well.

pyx -- I have no reason to doubt you, just curious -- is most of the female-originated domestic abuse really committed with 'weapons'? How do you know that?

The reason I ask is that my son is writing some hard-hitting papers in his college English class, and likes to find sources of data that are 180 degrees out from what is commonly reported in the 'news'. If you have a source I could Google, I would appreciate it. FR can be a wonderful data mine sometimes.

FWIW, I followed a fewlinks and found this ...

"Women are nearly twice as like to use an object when she assaults a male partner which can equalize the level of injury he receives. (Straus & Gelles, 1986)"

The issue with regard to violent Women is they are not held accountable to the same standard as Men. Also Men have no where to go. Most Domestic Abuse Shelters will not take Men with Children. So Men who are abused by a violent spouse and have children stay there take the abuse to protect their children. When a Father is absent from his Children. They are 50 times as likely to be abused as when he is Present.

We have had a rash of children murdered by their Mothers and by Boyfriends, Step Fathers. Little Nix Mary in NY. Her Mother had 4 children from 3 different Fathers. She is one of 7 children murdered recently. Common thread? The biological Fathers of all 7 Children were absent from the home. This is not an accident. Statistically Women are the primary abusers of Children. Dispite what the Rad Feminists claim.

And we are removing all restraints and accountability from the behavior of our Women. Example Clara Harris in Houston a Dentist. She murdered her Adulterous Husband also a Dentist. Ironic though she was also having an affair at the time she murdered her husband by driving over him 3 times with her Mercedes while her Step Daughter plead for her Fathers life and was in the car with Clara at the time. Clara Harris is one cold hearted Bitch.

Whenever accountability and responsibility is removed from any group you are asking for trouble. That is how we have arrived at the debased state of our culture today. With Slut Feminism, the Raunch Culture, Children wearing TShirts reading "I Would F&^% Me." While their Mother wears a Blouse reading Mother I Would Like To F^%$. We can thank the Boomers and the 60s drugged out, burn outs for getting us into this mess.

In my experience women have a robust capacity for violence. My mother is the most violent, angry, spiteful person I’ve ever encountered. She has a bottomless well of bile and every day the house will filled with the sounds of slammed doors and her screams. She would work herself in to a violent rage and nothing would ameliorate her. One memorable beating occurred when I lost the top to a container of Quick (I was 5). She shook me by my scalp and beat me with a cutting board.

She was especially angry and violent when my Father wasn’t around, but he was spared her anger and I remember her hurling some scissors at him which stuck in the kitchen floor, by the point, at his feet.

Nagging is in it's own way a type of domestic violence.
