I googled "Russians helping Saddam" a few months ago...and there is post after post of "openly" reported stories of how the Russians were helping Saddam in the lead up to this war. The fact that Putin didn't care that others thought they were helping Saddam with GPS/Anti-aircraft material tells me that this was a disinformation campaign from the beginning.
They couldn't hide the fact that Russians soldiers were flooding Iraq pior to the war...dressed in civies. In fact, if you recall, there was shootout of US soldiers with a convoy of Russians as they fled the country when the war started. Just like the so-called French contractors, these people were all there to destroy or move the evidence that tied them to Saddam's WMD program. And as touchy a situation this may with the WOT, this needs to finally be exposed to clear this country's good name. Hell, the Russians are doing the same thing to Iran that they did with Saddam.
