David Gregory, I Revoke My Proxy
The Post Chronicle ^ | 2/21/06 | Randall H. Nunn

Posted on 02/21/2006 6:57:47 AM PST by RepublicNewbie

On "Meet the Press" this past Sunday, NBC reporter David Gregory, after making a half-hearted apology for his poor conduct in arguing with the White House Press Secretary about the Cheney hunting accident, stated that the White House press corps is "a proxy for the American people." After exhibiting his rude behavior, poor analysis and lack of professionalism, Mr. Gregory then displays his arrogance and pomposity by taking on the role of "proxy for the American people." After seeing Mr. Gregory in all his glory, I hereby revoke my proxy and will give it someone who can better represent my interests.

Although David Gregory said he regretted his performance earlier in the week at a White House press briefing, he promptly went on to show the level of his dislike for Vice President Cheney and the Bush administration by stating that the way communication of the hunting accident was handled by Vice President Cheney is "emblematic of the rather secretive style with the press by the vice president."

"....White House press corps is "a proxy for the American people."

False!

They surrendered or decided collectively to undermine that formerly sacred duty during the 2 or 3 weeks following the Clinton inauguration and the news "blackout" the Clinton administration invoked upon them "while they got some press issues ironed out". The White House "press corps" and the media in general have been perversely anti-American and pro-leftie ever since!

I revoke "my proxy" also. However, due to his obvious qualifications, he and his democrat party press corps cronies have my full support to represent me as screaming evil monkeys at the Bronx Zoo.

I have not seen anyone, anywhere, say that there is NO obligation on the part of the White House, VP Office or anyone else for that matter, to say anything at all to the "Press" about any matter whatsoever. The WH could evict them all from the grounds and they would be left to stand at the fences like everyone else in the real world!........

I'd like to know why so much time was allowed to elapse from the time of the incident until he finally commented on it!

And why did he choose such a softball venue to discuss his temper tantrum. Big Tim didn't ask him a single question.

Proxy? HA!

Mr. Gregory is just following the Dan Rather & Sam Donaldson mold where the rudest person to the president is the king of the press corps dung hill. Franly, I'd love to see him get the 'Helen Thomas Treatment' and ignored by the press secretary until the end of the administration.

What I don't understand is why they don't just put the WH Press corp on a rotating basis so we don't have to look a their ugly mugs all the time. If there is a rotation, the odds are that someone will stumble on a valid question. Even blind squirrels find an acorn occasionally.
