We had a pet male cat named Billy Sunday. We found him alone out in the country as a little kitten sitting on a fence post. We also took in a stray female named Sheba who had a large tear under her front leg. We kept her in a room as she healed but somehow Billy Sunday got into the room with her and mated. She had the most beautiful kittens and we found them good homes. They ended up quite sick as they were growing up and it turned out that it was because their bodies were growing so very large so fast that they couldn't keep up. That is what the vet concluded. One of the families loved their cat very much and thought it was going to die because it got so sick. When it finally matured it became in good health. The two we saw after they grew up were about 29 pounds big and this is not because they were at all fat. They were just that big. They had beautiful plume tails and really gentle but dramatic markings. They were truly a sight to behold and also to pick up.

Later a stay that was not in the best of shape came running up to us as we left a restaurant. She was meowing at us just like we were old and good friends. She was heading straight out into the street and would have been hit by a car but when I yelled stop she stopped in her tracks. Her name is Sarah and she looks a lot like Billy Sunday and is really a big cat especially for a female. I wonder if she might not be some of Billy Sunday and Sheba's progeny.

Twenty years ago many of us at the office ate lunch across the street at a cheap Chinese restaurant. A few years later (after I had transferred to another office across town) I read where the Health Dept. had shut the restaurant down because they found cat skeletons in the dumpster! God knows how many times I ate cat fried rice!

My tom cat took a big bite out of my wrist a couple of months ago - I guess he was just getting his revenge for catkind.

Junior, A Portland Cat, Tips Scales At Over 35 Pounds

Feline Only Given Half A Cup Of Food A Day

PORTLAND -- After a 33 pound cat from China made international headlines, KOIN News 6 found a scale-tipping feline right here in Portland.

JuniorJunior weighed in at 37 pounds and her owner doesn't know how he got so big.

Carole Bignardi says she only feeds her cat a quarter cup of food in the morning and another quarter cup in the evening.  She says even the vet doesn't know why Junior is so big.

It's not known if Junior's weight breaks any records because the Guinness Book of World Records no longer lists records on fattest pets after concerns that some pet owners were harming the animals in an attempt to set new weight records.

Pet owners concerned about their animal's weight should see a vet, feed their pet less and try a high protein and fat diet that's low in carbs.
