Bush, Fox Discuss Mexico Border Security

MILWAUKEE -- President Bush and President Vicente Fox of Mexico exchanged ideas Monday on how to stop violence and improve security along the two countries' mutual border, the White House said.

Press secretary Scott McClellan said that Bush telephoned Fox while traveling here to give a speech and said the pair "talked about working together" to improve conditions that have been a source of friction between the two countries.

McClellan told reporters that Bush has designated Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to talk to his counterpart in Mexico about the problem and said that Bush and Fox also talked about pending immigration legislation in Congress

Executive Summary President Bush’s “temporary guest worker” proposal of January 7, 2004 was broadly interpreted as an illegal immigration amnesty program around the country and abroad. The Bush administration ordered the U.S. Border Patrol to survey apprehended illegal immigrants concerning President Bush’s proposal. The results indicated that President Bush’s proposal had actually lured greater numbers of illegal immigrants to violate the law. Politically inconvenient and/or potentially embarrassing data from the Border Patrol survey resulted in the Bush administration calling off the survey on January 27, 2004. The U.S. government never released a report based on the survey. The White House directed Homeland Security Public Affairs Officers to deliberately withhold information from the public and the media about the Border Patrol survey and a related spike in illegal immigration. The Bush administration mislead Americans for political purposes. The White House approved talking points included: • Do not talk about amnesty, increase in apprehensions, or give comparisons of past immigration reform proposals. • Do not provide statistics on apprehension spikes or past amnesty data. While the Border Patrol’s unscientific survey and its aborted execution may not provide a comprehensive picture of the relationship between President Bush’s immigration proposal and illegal immigration, the initial data is deeply disturbing. Analysis of the raw data from the survey forms indicates: • 45% crossed illegally based on rumors of a Bush administration amnesty. • 63% received Mexican government or media information supporting the notion of a Bush administration amnesty. • 64% previously entered the United States illegally. • 80% desired to apply for amnesty. • 66% desired to petition for family members to join them in the U.S. A detailed summary of our findings and conclusions can be found starting at page 15 of this report. Judicial Watch will continue to pursue this case and other illegal immigration matters, and report facts to the American people as part of its mission as a public interest educational foundation. We are now one of the largest Spanish-speaking nations in the world. We're a major source of Latin music, journalism and culture. Just go to Miami, or San Antonio, Los Angeles, Chicago or West New York, New Jersey ... and close your eyes and listen. You could just as easily be in Santo Domingo or Santiago, or San Miguel de Allende. For years our nation has debated this change -- some have praised it and others have resented it. By nominating me, my party has made a choice to welcome the new America. As I speak, we are celebrating the success of democracy in Mexico. George Bush from a campaign speech in Miami, August 2000

In May, 1999, George W. Bush said something even more disturbing that what you quoted above.

He simply stated, "There ought to be limits to freedom."

From that point, I knew Bush was a man that needed to be watched --closely.

The next issue will be, when Americans are making less money how will they finance all the giveaway programs with less tax money?

****This garbage is utterly disgusting. He thinks we can't low wage jobs. He thinks we can't do high tech jobs, he thinks we can't do port jobs.****

It is disgusting.
What's also disgusting is that I believe he thinks "we" are idiots.

In 2000 when the unemployment was at approx 4.9%, there were only an estimated Seven Million ILLEGALS here. Six years later under Dubya we have FOURTEEN million ILLEGALS, maybe 20 million. Now the economy surely hasn't 'created' another 7-13 Million new jobs. So what are these 'new' illegals doing - besides collecting WELFARE and committing crimes!

George W. Bush is totally unconcerned about that.
As long as his oil cronies are able to acquire control of our public infrastructure for pennies on the dollar (ports, highways) he couldn't care less how deep in debt he buries the average American.

There's a core group of the "bots" that don't have a stomach for it. It's all praise and glory for them.

ou keep telling us that you're a WAR PRESIDENT, so why are we still allowing illegals to swarm across our borders during a time of WAR?

Why are you putting the ragheads in charge of our ports?

Very interesting, but not surprising.

The other side of the coin is groups in support of illegal immigration, have already made public statements saying they will not come forward to be identified unless it is total blanket amnesty/citizenship for all that are here now. They do not want to be identified for possible deportation. That means if proposals to identify illegals and process them to make sure only eligible people were allowed to stay here, most would not comply. Illegals want nothing short of citizenship for all of them, regardless of criminal history or any other reason that might disqualify them. The very people the guest worker program is aimed at are already saying they would not participate.

That means if a guest worker program was implemented, most would not comply, so we would still continue to have the illegal problem, but we would also have more legal immigrants to attempt to keep track of.

BIIINNNGGGOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the illegals will still want to work under the table for cash and not go into this system. Without strict employer oversight, the system will just add millions and millions more lower wage people all while the same illegals want to work for cash and the businesses look to evade taxes.

Way to go George!
