Well in prepration for the Dubai port deal all day every day Media storm approaching, here is what the Port story is about.
A DNC press release was sent out by Chucky Schumer for the Democrat Senate Election Committee. It is full of rumor, innuendo and guilt by association. A bunch of junk journalists picked up the story and with out checking a SINGLE fact printed the story. A bunch of meat head grandstanding Republicans Congress Critters on Kneepads, read the story and freaked out WITHOUT bothering to find out a single fact.
The Security Agencies, who did all the investigation and background checks were blown off or sneered at by the Democrats, their junk journalists propagandists and Republican Congress critter Media whores. Meanwhile the FACTS of the case are being ignored in order for everyone to gleefully parrot a DEMOCRAT Press release.
HERE is the logical diagram on this story. A company based in UAE is taking over port operations. UAE is an Arab Country. Arabs committed 9-11. Bush is turning Port Security over to the Terrorists! Not ONE fact or logically valid assumption is presented in any of these stories. The fact that the Port Operation company has NO security functions is either willfully or inadvertently left OUT of the story. Instead it is all basically a racist, guilty by accusation and rumor smear job. The people who ACTUALLY know the facts like DHS etc are being laughed at or ignored so supposedly "Conservatives" can gleefully push Democrat Election Campaign propaganda. Simply amazing how willfully ignorant some "Conservatives" are about how the Junk Journalists lie to them. Just like Flush the Koran, Rather Gate, Fitzmus, Downing Street Memo and dozens and dozens of other LIES manufactured by the DNC and fed to the Failed Media, THIS story is a LIE.

Funny how the media doesn't sue the government to have the whole thing released .. like they are trying to get a list of the terrorists that have been wiretapped

They've shown between the two episodes there is a clear media political agenda, and bias.
They were angry at Drudge for violating their space and doing their job for them, which is to inform the consumers of news.

I hadn't realized that Gregory called McClellan a jerk at the WH press conference. Nonetheless, his non-apology sounded ridiculous. I noticed he was trying to shift the focus back on the WH at the end of his non-apology.

The UAE has purchased high end commercial satellites for their Thuraya Network which serves (and therefore links) Europe and the Middle East. Looking down the road to what we want to see in the future I see a democratic Middle East with successful growing economies living peacefully (but competing commercially) with the western nations. I see future Japans and Germanys leading the Arab nations out of their current despotism. And nations like the UAE and Kuwait and Qatar are pathfinders for this knew, peaceful future. And because of fear we are about to do Al Qaeda’s bidding and nip this opportunity in the bud. Because an ‘Arab’ country of ‘Muslims’ is continuing to work its way into the Western economic picture - we are up in arms. The UAE and the British have been working together for decades. The fact the UAE is getting permission from the British to integrate these two companies provides me plenty of confidence this is not some Al Qaeda front. We are playing to our worst reflexes. Unless someone has hard, irrefutable evidence of Al Qaeda running this company, and they are able to order the US and British employees to violate our inspection processes to get dangerous materials past our borders, I suggest people calm down and think this out."

I can remember some of those budget cuts and bureau closures happend in the mid-1980's, because they had bureaus in practically every corner of the globe, now reduced to a handful.

Re: The ports thing. Why was the bidding secret? Who were the other bidders? If the UAE's deal is scotched, who benefits? Anyone that's dumping big bucks in some campaign's coffers? What did Congress know about the whole process and when did they know it?
