Former Colorado Gov. Dick Lamm doesn't shy away from controversial subjects, but he acknowledged during a presentation Friday in Aspen that immigration reform is a tough topic to tackle.
"There is a political correctness in America that makes it difficult to discuss some of these problems," he said.

"There is a political correctness in America that makes it difficult to discuss some of these problems," he said."
And 80% of Americans want a stop to illegal immigration,
so exactly what does PC have to do with anything??
--the only subject on which my former governor and I agree--
Is he demanding that no illegas be admitted to the State University system in Colorado?
Or is this generic posturing?
Admittedly, I have not followed Lamm for very long. But, from what I can tell, he seems pretty strong on this issue. I think his primary reason for stopping illegal immigration is for environmental and overpopulation reasons, however, concerns of which I share with him.
And in this speech, while pondering what to do with those already here, illegally, he says "we can't send them all back."
WHY NOT!
CORRECT! If we cut off their underground job supply, and force them to provide irrefutable ID for welfare, they will RUN home!
Wrong, that number is in the high 90s. Essentially everyone, including Hillary Clinton, Ted Kennedy, and George Bush want to stop illegal immigration. The only ones who want illegal immigration are a few wild-eyed libertarians, utopian marxists, and anarchists.
So, if everyone wants to stop illegal immigration, why do we have illegal immigration. Simple.
There is no agreement on how best to end it. Nobody has enough votes in congress to pass anything. And nobody is planning on compromising.
Until consensus is reached in congress, you will just have tolerate the mexicans.
Lamm is an idiot leftist who has, apparently, seen the damage being done to America. Aspen is full of Hollywood pukes and Saudi princes so all they care about is having enough illegals to keep their lawns trimmed and their toilets cleaned. I suggest Lammikins go down to the border, sit on an aluminum chair and call the Border Patrol everytime he sees a member of the Mexican military run across with a load of drugs. Take Dottie with him!
