Bottom line for me is, I'm not saying Tony's arguments are wrong-- but as Americans we have to be in charge of our own destiny. Too many of us have well-founded suspicion, wariness and yes, fear about this port issue that we have to err on the side of caution.

I didn't read the whole thread but I have heard that three of the 9/11 hijackers came from the UAE, is that true?

I am learning at least two things from this Dubai issue. First, lots of Americans have not forgotten 9/11 and do not misunderstand it's message. Second, and I think that Muslims should be listening to this very carefully, many Americans are not buying this religion of peace stuff and they do not trust followers of Islam.

The combination of a "holiday " and a controversial subject, makes for one of the threads we have had so far!

Thanks!!

re: Curious George

So by this reasoning, the Chicken Little/The sky is Falling fairytale needs to be removed from school readers as it makes fun of the dems?

Funny but true. I went to an EAA Fly-In in Wis., and there was "Pappy" Boyington autographing his book, right across the aisle from a "former" Kami-Kazee pilot autographing his book.

Free enterprise brought these two mortal enemies together in the end.

Check this out .. have we heard of this guy before and I missed it?

Tony Shaffer .. naming names

"Mr. William Huntington, who was just promoted to serve as the Deputy Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency, who after becoming the Deputy Director of HUMINT in the early 2001 timeframe passed the buck. When I attempted to brief him on the DORHAWK GALLEY project, to include information on the ABLE DANGER project that was to use specific portions of the ABLE DANGER methodology to sort through and separate U.S. Person information from Foreign Intelligence information, refused to hear the briefing, announcing that "I can't be here, I can't see this" as he left his office and refused to return to hear the information.

By doing this, he could later fain ignorance of the project should it have been compromised to the public. It is my believe that he is an example of the cultural problem — senior bureaucrats who are more focused on their own career and having "plausible deniability" to never allow anything "controversial or risky" to "touch them".

It is of greave concern that Mr. Huntington is the one who is behind the troubling coincidence regarding my security clearance being suspended in March of 2004, just after reporting to my DIA chain of command (to include Mr. Huntington) of my contact with the 9-11 commission, and my offer to share the ABLE DANGER information to the 9-11 commission. I would question the judgment of DIA's leadership to offer Mr. Huntington up as its "expert" on ABLE DANGER based on his earlier refusal to deal with this issue in 2001.

Further, I have direct knowledge of two officers — one a senior DoD civilian, the other a senior active duty military officer — both former members of Defense HUMINT — that Mr. Huntington directed them to lie to congress to conceal the true scope and nature of problems with Defense HUMINT. Both refused his directive to lie and are no longer members of Defense HUMINT. Mr. Huntington's conduct speaks for itself."

This Mr. William Huntington sounds like a real loser of a mindless bureaucrat, and worse. He needs to be raked over the coals in front of Congressional committees - why did he prove to be such a weasel about ABLE DANGER and why is he trying to wreck Col. Schaffer's career and life???

Well, we all know why, but it's time this guy was called out on it and punished.

fwiw, there's a simliar kind of weasel moment about a bureaucrat saying "I can't see this" in the new book "Jawbreaker" about the hunt for Bin Laden & company. At a critical moment when the author says his team is trying to tighten the noose on Bin Laden's forces at Tora Bora in Dec. 2001, he asserts that a key US General refused to review or sign off on crucial planning because (in the author's estimation) the General did not want his fingerprints anywhere on the operation in case something went wrong. That kind of risk-averse nonsense is exactly the culture that allowed Islamo-fascist terrorism to run amock unchecked for so long..... though I have to think that even Generals and Admirals were very gun-shy after decades of politically correct nonsense, and Clintonistas taking over so many key positions in our military and civilian bureaucracies.
