From what I understand in Britain the government in the form of the monopolies commission would only look at it if it meant that a British company was therefore going to have a monopoly and would in effect have control of a particular area of trading and or would not offer competitive prices.

Thanks snugs. That makes sense as I believe that Britain and most European countries have fairly strict anti-trust laws.
