My goodness...what terrific news!!!
Howlin is a celebrity!! We all knew about Buckhead...but Howlin.
Gosh, I am gonna have to start being nicer to her!! LOL
I think the radio talk show hosts...most of them..have their own agenda also...
So..if you send them something that goes against their own opinion about something...it is likely to get thrown away probably.
Would love to see Alan Simpson as Press Secretary.
However he has been caught using stuff on FR countless times without giving us credit but who cares as long as he uses our stuff.
#####
I just wish he wouldn't later brag about being first on some issue when he mentions it on a Monday, and he read it here all day Sunday.
EX: how could he possibly claim to be the first to say he'd rather go hunting with Cheney than... when every conservative in America who knows the Swimmer was saying that on Sunday. The bumper sticker was even on FR before Monday.
I think you are very right.. unless the email is easy for them to rip on...
however there is one guy here in the ATL that I have disagreed with- and have sent some good thoughtfull arguements to...
he not only reads them on the air... he says things like..
Good stuff, Sherri" and email back telling me so... I think I actually turned him around on one thing.. I have heard him argue my point now! LOL!
Al of Arabia, Ali-Baba and the 40 Thieves, Osama Al Bin Gore-den
well thank you...and so are you my FRiend... so are you!
By the way.. Johnnie got the bottle of wine I sent him too! LOL!
It's just disjointed information at this point; and I haven't kept a local copy that would facilitate putting together some sort of coherent story.
Here's the meat and potatos I was looking for on each port, anyway. Miami had that diversion on account of the lawsuit against P&O by Continental Stevedoring.
In Miami, P&O Ports is a 50% owner of the Port of Miami Terminal Operating Company (POMTOC), which operates the only multi-user container facility in the port, on 117 acres with 12 container cranes. Annual throughput volume is over 500,000 teus.Stevedoring services are provided by Eller-ITO, a 50% joint venture company. Annual volume is 600,000 containers for steamship lines including Columbus, Crowley, P&O Nedlloyd, Contship, Lykes, CP Ships, COSCO, Yang Ming, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K-Line) and Seaboard Marine.
In addition to container operations, P&O Ports, through its joint ventures, also services RoRo and general cargo vessels. Stevedoring, baggage handling and terminal services are provided for more than 700,000 passengers on Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and Norwegian Cruise Line.
Port Overview
The port offers direct access from the Gulf stream shipping lanes via Government Cut, a 500 ft. (152.4 mt) wide, 42 ft. mean low tide (12.8 mt) draft shipping channel. The container berths are on the southeast end of the island seaport, a mere nautical mile from the sea buoy. A 1000 ft. diameter turning basin lies immediately to the east of the container facility, and another 2000 ft. turning basin to the west is presently being dredged to 42 ft. The short distance to the Gulf stream shipping lanes, convenient turning basins and year-round absence of fog, guarantee quick and direct access between the Port and trade routes.
With the recent addition of two new 65-long-ton super post-Panamax container cranes, the Port of Miami solidified its position as being the largest and most modern container terminal in the Southeastern United States. These cranes join the three Panamax and seven post-Panamax, bringing a total of twelve gantry cranes operating at Miami's dynamic container port. All of the cranes are owned and maintained by the Port, and leased to the stevedoring companies. Cranes are available for operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The cranes are aligned on a single 6,000 ft. berth capable of handling seven container vessels simultaneously.
We need Tony Schaffer's help with this :) Interesting too about the donations to the DNC which took the money directly from the crooks, not from some outfits that they were "lobbying" for. Culture of corruption anyone?
I haven't read the whole thread yet...but, if "secretive" wasn't one of the dem's main "talking points" it will be after today..
Since his highness, Bubba, used that word when talking on TV this morning about the Cheney shooting incident..
Pot/kettle.
the phrase is embedded reporters, not "in bedded reporters," unless you were trying to make a comment? ;^)
Way back when I was a child I remember one of the early Peanuts cartoons which had the kids playing hide and seek. Lucy ended up standing there and screaming "olly olly ox in free-o" over and over, louder and louder (expressed with bigger letters). Finally Lunus walks up and says "for your information the phrase is 'all who are out are in free.'" Lucy blushed brightly and said "I've never been so embarrassed in my life!"
I've told that story a few times, I think even here on FR. At least once I had someone argue with me that what Linsu says is the phrase is not really the phrase. They miss the simple fact that a) their argument is (was) with Charles Schultz and b) it's still funny.
Sorry, couldn't resist. Carry on.
FYI...That was THE look back then..bermudas with penny loafers..especially Bass weejuns..and not just any color..but ONLY Oxblood red..<P.
Madras blazers were HUGE for summer wear..Brooks Brothers sold gazillions of them..you wore them with a white or yelo0w button down shirt ( yes, dear..yellowcwas a HUGElu popular color back then..and a navy tie with some small patternn..white dots..or birds..or golfballs
Just for the record and accuracy, please check HOWLIN'S thread!
FOR THE RECORD: CBS Memos Controversy on Free Republic
Free Republic ^ | September 18, 2004
Posted on 09/18/2004 5:26:50 PM CDT by Howlin
In the interest of the historical importance of things that happened on this forum last week and, most importantly, to try to provide and document an accurate record of exactly what happened here on the evening of September 8, 2004, and the following morning, I have compiled a listing of ALL of the postings that occurred on Free Republic concerning CBS and Dan Rather 60 Minutes show from 8:00 PM EDT on Thurdsay, September 8, 2004, up until about 9:00 AM EDT on the morning of Friday, September 9, 2004, when the rest of the internet "caught up."
I am posting this thread for two reason.
First, to document the facts as we all know them to be -- and to try to put to rest the dubious claims that have been made concerning exactly how this all came about and exactly who "brought" it about.
Perhaps I am doing this to try to set the record straight, so as no one else will believe we are anything other than who we are: a bunch of really cool people (in Freeperware) from all across this country and from all walks of life with a passion for this country and for the truth who are lucky enough to know a man like Jim Robinson who decided to make this his life's work and give us all a place to rant/vent/question/opine/whine/relish the events that go on about us.
And, secondly, to remind everybody that even though Buckhead, TankerKC, and myself are the names mentioned in the blogs and articles concerning that night, it was, as it always is here on Free Republic, many, many posters; numerous questions were raised BEFORE the famous post #47.
And if I might add this: in my humble opinion, it was Free Republic at its best; I'm proud to be among you.

If politicians and TV and radio talk show hosts would do even a quarter of the research that freepers like Cboldt, Seattle Conservative, phsstpok, and AliVeritas do...
they wouldn't "step in it"...they would be informed and able to make their case...
Great point, maica....I had thought about that a couple times in the last few days...but, forgot to mention it today...
which goes back to Congresscritters and media folks not doing their homework...like you do.
