Mullashs aside, we would have been far better off backing Iran, which while a fanatical muslim controlled government, intel would consider the persians in Iran a geopolitical counterweight to the Arabs, which would mean far less turmoil in Israel too.. Aside from the fanatical mullahs and their nuclear ambitions, the Iranian's beef with us is more geopolitical than Ideological, hence why they currently back Hezbollah in Lebanon, Syria, are trying to get the bomb, etc.
But it makes me wonder, why hasn't Bush confronted Russia about this? Surely he has to know if this is true. ==

The WMD was there. Every rational person knows that. It's just that it can't be proven beyond a reasonable doubt and that's why the President can't talk about it. If the smoking gun was discovered, then it should be on the front page of every newspaper in the free world.
