" [T]he debate playing out in the blogosphere, cable airwaves and on talk radio pits the Vice President against an allegedly left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps in a tizzy because it wasn't the first to know and angry because it hates the President and Vice President anyway. "
That's exactly right. And it comes from NBC's David Gregory.
Gregory goes on to announce that this description is "nonsense," but of course Gregory has not allowed himself to be questioned outside of his network. He doesn't return calls and he won't make himself available for questions about what appears to be his deep seated hostility for the vice president and the Administration.
A professional would have calmly assenbled the facts and asked specific questions from McClellan. Gregory's overheated demands to know the president's "feelings" about the incident revealed a great deal about Gregory's bias and his talents. Soxblog suggested in his 2/15 post that those who know Gregory say he is wrongly judged on his meltdown this week, but unless and until Gregory is as willing to answer questions as he is to pose them, we can assume that what we saw is what he is.
Gregory is now caught up in controversy and he's both stonewalling and trying to change the subject.
Fiddlesticks. When I used to listen to Imus in the Morning there was more than sufficent revelation of Gregory's character: he is the son of a Broadway producer who is a fairly good impersonator and a very shallow mind. He is a silly foolish boy --aeterna puer--type who is catty and feminine. This last part was revealed to the nation this past week as he "made it about himself" and his sense of personal deprivation. He is of no interest, really, other than the fact that he happens to be of the type that the networks like to groom for advancemet due a a certain telegenic quality. That means that he might appeal to TV consumers because he is so shallow and boyish.
If I remember correctly, Ronald Regan had Peter Jennings tossed out of press conferences.
LOL -- I went to his blog to read the comments to him, even though I hated giving it a hit.
Here is my reply to Mr. Gregory on his weblog:

David,
I can certainly understand the vehemence with which you deny any bias or ulterior motive behind the hissy fit that you threw during that session with Scott McClellan. You are understandably sensitive to those allegations, given the shameless manner with which you have conducted yourself during every opportunity to be seen on camera "grilling" the President or someone in his administration.
That said, what other conclusion is a reasonable viewer to reach after considering the slant of all of the questions that you ask representatives of this administration? The fact that you deny that you are a "left-wing, overly cynical, prissy White House press corps [reporter who] hates the President and Vice President anyway" does not make that characterization any less accurate.
Perhaps you should find some other venue in which to vociferously campaign for a job on the Today Show, in order to better showcase your virulent views without offending those people who believe that the job of a journalist is to report the news and not slant or create it.
Because I realize that this message will never be posted on your weblog, I've also posted it on freerepublic.com.
David Gregory, I demand you answer our questions! (arms folded, foot tapping)
WE DESERVRE ANWSERS !
She laughed!!!!
FOTFLOL! I love that! I'm proud of you and still giggling.
He He. Turn around is fair play
Is this the NBC News jump-the-shark/Jimmy-Smits moment?
"I went to his blog, told him it must sting being spanked by Brit Hume, and he should put some ice on it, it wouldn't post."
Give it a couple of hours. There is a delay on the posts. I think they actual have someone read them before publishing them in the comments section.
My husband and I have both commented on his simian appearance ....
LOL....These commie MSM'ers...hoping the pressure continues on this goon...
We should mess with his head by encouraging him to "keep up the good work" and watch him self destruct entirely.
... and, sooner or later, would sign on over at FOX ... don't they all, eventually?!
Did anyone hear Dave Beck's little spoof yesterday? Had his sidekick call David Gregory's office and tell the receptionist, "I have a lead on a story for David to investigate. My toddler daughter fell down this morning. I was here and saw it happen. My wife was not here. It was an accident. But just in case I am wrong, maybe my wife was here and it was actually child abuse. Please have Mr. Gregory check it out."
