'Hannitized'

By Bill Steigerwald TRIBUNE-REVIEW Saturday, February 18, 2006

Q: Have we seen the end of the Dick Cheney shooting-spree story?

A: No. I don't think so, only because it's got to make it through the Sunday news cycle. I think after that it'll probably go away. From all that we've seen, it just seems like a terrible accident ... . I thought he came across as very sincere in Brit Hume's interview.

No Ruth's Chris Steakhouse gift certificate for you.

He's probably planning on egging my house from his GulfStream Jet about now.

Man - a little over-dramatic yourself aren't you?

I do not get to read each and every post on FR by a poster. I react to what I read in a current post.

I have seen tons of comments on FR about Sean. Many say something nice and then tear him apart. It is very hurtful to him as, for a time, he refused to read FR.

Again - there are many things I dislike about the shows and I've hassled him often. But, I do not rule him, I do not program the shows.

All I am saying is too many here are computer critics - puffing themselves up as they attack one of our own. They then hope to give the impression that Sean is beneath their elite intellectual superiority.

Well - I'll believe them when they have four hours of air time daily, when they hold benefits for the families of fallen soldiers and when they daily attack the enemy (the liberals) to the best of their abilities.

You are proof that Sean is reaching a segment of our audience.

Nobody has to listen four hours a day, five days a week.
The man draws the young teenagers with his promotional abilities and his simple "love America" theme. He stands up for our side and works his heart out.

Now, if I wanted to criticize, I could send him an email which I have done often. But there is no need for me to work against him - I would be crazy and helping the dems.

But if that flag-waving comes off as somewhat simple-minded and robotic, then that can defeat the purpose.

And, I guess I am idiotic if I think this is a trash Sean comment.

Did you ever have a first grade teacher? Did you criticize her too?

Is there something wrong with your TV switch? Or are you just trying to drum up ratings for a competitor to Sean?

Sean is not our servant to air what we choose.

Also - there are legal ramifications that you do not even consider.

And, what about his reputation when he starts sprouting "kook" conspiracy theories?

Now, you are attacking Tony Snow. You are just such a little charmer aren't you? I could go check to see if you post on DU but don't want to take the time.

Just maybe YOU should get a radio show and show your superior abilities to the world.

You also might remember that Tony WAS on TV but was moved out. So - possibly he does not call the shots on how he gets to treat guests.

Good people destroying the conservative talk show hosts are also harming this country. Just who gets their time slot when they are destroyed?

Just how are the complainers helping save the country? By maligning the conservative talk show hosts and ignoring the liberal media? By putting on the internet the same insults that DU would print? By sending the talk show hosts unproven, unprovable conspiracy theories and then badmouthing them when they do not demand proof before they air something?

Oh, get over yourselves.

--------------------------------

Are you Sean's mommy?

And btw...I do consider myself (and most of the people I know) to be above hannity's intellectual level. Do you see yourself as a notch or two below him on the Bell Curve?

And btw2....I do sponsor and raise funds for our troops (as do many freepers -are you one who does?) and I didn't have to wait for a high-profile wounded soldier to show up before spending time at Walter Reed. That is not a swipe at Joshua Sparling in any way. It is to point out that we were at war for three and a half years before your boy made the visit - in other words- he waited until there was something in it for him. Why wasn't he there in October 2002? or November 2003? or July 2004?

Hannity sets himself up as the arbitor of who is a "great American" and he wraps himself in the flag in a fashion that is both comical and shameless. But when Laura Ingraham was in Iraq and asked him when he was going over he nearly gagged and changed the subject real fast. Rush has gone to the danger zone too. Hell, even that half-a-commie pos Franken has been to Iraq twice - both times during the Holidays. Where does your hero go? Skiing at Okemo.

You may be impressed. I am not. And I think that your boy wastes far too much important radio time with his self-aggrandizing, corporate wonk act.

Well - that ought to hurt Hannity.

I'm surprised you bother to even know what he is doing - he is so stupid to you. Just who are you listening to?

Now - Hannity is a radio host working his head off. The reason he is not so indepth as you wish is because he is running in too many directions at once. He has little reflection, research time. Each day is filled with air time and promotion of his many interests.

Now - there is a lot I get awfully tired of, a lot that bugs me about show formats, repetition, and giving free conservative air time to radical liberals to spread that crazy message. So, I just do not watch when it gets tiresome. (I am taking a break from O'Reilly and H&C now as daily my husband listens to Rush/Sean/O'R/H&C. So talk about the repetition factor, the overload factor, and the predictability factor - I have all of them.

My favorite is Rush for teaching, analysis and comfort during scary world happenings. But, Sean is always out there standing up to the liberals too and, he has different talents than Rush. Talents which are also needed.

Sean is a promoter, a hard-working host that has mid-America values and I like to see the dems confronted with those values on prime time tv. I may not always watch - but I like Sean doing what Sean does best.

"Well - that ought to hurt Hannity."

Who cares? I was responding to you.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"Each day is filled with air time and promotion of his many interests."

Like his book? And do you think he is busier than Rush? No, just not as smart. And btw...these guys don't do the research, their staff people do.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"I like Sean doing what Sean does best."

And to many of us what he does best is promote hannity.

You're probably a genuinely nice person whose heart is firmly in the right place (I mean this sincerely). Hannity has his audience. But he works the patriotic emotions of that audience in a way that is grating and that is designed to maximize his earnings. I have seen him go too soft too often with too many libs and then become the pit bull again once they're off the air. I stopped watching the TV show years ago when Hillary was on but only took questions from Alan. Hannity sat on his hands like a good little boy. I thought that was particularly spineless.

And, we agree absolutely about Rush.

"And, I guess I am idiotic if I think this is a trash Sean comment." ----

LOL ........... "are you an idiot" ...........that is a possibility. (Remember "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid" when the gambler said......... when he found out it was the Sundance Kid he just accused of cheating him .......... "if I draw on you, you'll probably kill me"............... YES, that is a possiblitity.

That fits you very well here.

Hey sweet, weak Clancy.............. my first grade teacher back in 1953 used to like to make me (and others) squat down under her desk when I (we) was bad in class. Yoi...... the view! ...... was there something intentional there?

Well apparently you don't know the rules of the interviews on H&C.

When a prominent lib (esp. a Hillary) comes on - they are only interviewed by the lib - no Sean allowed. When a prominent conservative comes on - they only have Sean - no questions/comments from Alan.

Those are the rules. Sean has interviewed the president, vice-president (I forget exactly who). These are special interviews filmed earlier and played on the show - possibly on more than one day.

But - you will never see Hannity get anywhere near Hillary on that show.

That is not the fault of Hannity that is just the only way those guests will appear.

Now - I am tired of talking about fairness for Sean. Go ahead and take cheap shots at a man who worked hard, used his talents to get four hours of prime air time daily. Nobody gave it to him, nobody keeps it for him - he is the one using his talents to earn a living. More power to him.

While he is doing it - he is also reaching millions of people with the heartland values and conservative views - no matter whether you like how he does it or not.

Smart? He is pretty darned smart to come from nothing to become a multi-media conservative pundit. Not intelligent enough for you? Turn on one who is.

Sean is a promoter and will work in the arena that is comfortable for him. Rush does not do on-site radio shows, does not have guests, does not run yearly soldier-family benefits. Sean likes that area and it fits his talents.

We need all of these men working as hard as they can to reach who they can and I am thankful that they find a way to do it successfully. They are not elected officials, they are not charity workers - they are personalities.

Well, we have now seen. You started out saying - I quoted that Sean ......... (was wonderful). And you have continued post after post to lambast him for any number of reasons. The truth is shown. Your whole purpose was to trash Sean from the getgo.

Luckily, many do not pay attention to the views of those continually trying to bring down our conservative spokespeople. You should go help DU. Or is the purpose to bring DU efforts to FR?
