Curling is great. I used to laugh of it, but after starting following it bit, it is really cool.
But, I would rather watch Hockey though.

Thanks,
How has the game been like?
Slovakia dangerous on the counter attack?
And, team USA, is the team starting to gel?

Hockey is just about the only sport NBC here hasn't screwed up while showing - live games, commercial-free during play, top notch announcers and very little annoying human interest story filler.
NBC will probably start screwing it up when it really counts, during the medal rounds.
1-1, 3rd period starting soon.
To: Eurotwit
Good pace, both teams defintely playing defense-first. Not much going on in terms of breakaways and counter-attacks. USA edging out Slovakia statistically through the end of 2, and Slovakia goes up 2-1 as I type this.

Davis is the single most unlikable athlete. Surpassing even Bode whatshisname.

Yep, he did, and Joey Cheek came in second. This was really a longshot for Hedrick, just like the 5000 was a longshot for Davis.

2-1 Slovakia. Satan to Bondra for the goal.
The game has a fairly decent pace - not a ton of penalties called for once. Play has been fairly even, although the US has won more faceoffs.
Slovakia barely misconnected on a short-handed pass to give them a breakaway. They are definitely still dangerous on the counter attack. Team USA looks like they're playing better than they were earlier in the week.
USA power play now.
To: Eurotwit
Team USA looks like the better team, but I really got the sense after the first period that they lost a golden opportunity to score a couple of goals. The Slovak goalie looked very unsteady in the first period, but has looked much better since then.
For the life of me, I can't understand why Chris Chelios is on this team. At the age of 44 he has a tough time playing on the larger international ice surface, and a few times this game he's even been physically pushed around by smaller Slovak players.

Thanks for the update guys.
Slovakia impressed me on the counter attack against Russia.
Just found out that they will show the game at midnight tape delayed.
Good luck to you guys.

For the life of me, I can't understand why Chris Chelios is on this teamI agree completely, he should not be out there. There are so many better choices that could've been made, especially for this style of play.

It's been great fun to watch Curling, mostly because jokes about it come so fast and easy, especially if like me, you know zip about it.

all I ever wanted to know about Curling.
The best part? The FARGO-speak announcers.
And yahoooooo, USA women plays Italy live at 5PM est.

The US is missing the one legit scorer....
if they had a Rick Nash (and he did score that goal earlier I don't care what they say) or someone like that, they'd be in great shape.
but they don't. They have good players, but they don't have that one go to guy....

I know there's been a lack of young U.S.-born defensement in the NHL in the last few years, but you'd think this would have been a perfect opportunity to get one or two defensemen from the collegiate ranks to fill out the roster of this team.

Actually, I'm not sure why the U.S. even uses NHL players. Last time I checked, the best American Olympic hockey of all time consisted of a bunch of college kids.

that's because everyone else is.
If we put a bunch of college kids up against the Russians, the Slovaks and the Candians, they would get destroyed.
Hey we are putting NHL'ers up against these teams and are struggling.
Being a Wings fan, I would LOVE to see Cheli and Schnieder not there, but they are.

2-1 Slovakia final. USA vs. Sweden tomorrow and Russia Tuesday. The tie with Latvia could come back to haunt team USA (although the goal differential is still looking good). Latvia still needs to face Russia and Kazakhstan.
To: MikeinIraq
That's because you can't just put a bunch of guys together and tell them to go out and play, they should have been playing exhibition games together before they went off to Torino.
