The only thing that frightens me is the thought of you thinking.

You're wrong about that. It is just another "Pork" item that Schumer loves to get credit for.

I assumed it was just another device that would cost a lot of money but do little good...but would *sound* good because of the cost.

Would Chuck's device catch this?

Some of us are on this thread because of the port subject that is being misrepresented by some like yourself and Savage. Some of us would like to see some sane and proper analysis before we jump around proclaiming the sky is falling and it's all Bush's fault. Oh and by the way Savage is an entertainer. I don't form my political opinions from entertainers.

Very good analogy!

GWB has been like Damien Thorn this term.

I can tell from a number of the posts in here that some people are totally ignorant of the Dubai deal. I guess to cover their ignorance, they're employing boorish behavior. You know, the simpleton who wears a professor cap and gown and pretends to know something they just caught wind of. It's hilarious.

Give me the links that says things 'will' change.

Control over the facilities is changing. It is you that needs to prove that we are better off or at least as safe as we were before. Especially given your disparaging comments regarding those demonstrating concern.

Don't bother, these people are no different than those we laughed and mocked who thought a cigar in a fat intern was no big deal. It is the same stupid mentality.

The code sharing thing. Unless it's not proprietary, and that's standard for ships. Battleships and war code, now that's different. Like I said, I was on the outside looking in.

More good info. thanks

That's why Bush is doing so well in the polls because he been listening to a former Dem like you. HAH! If he keeps it up, Bush will find himself impeached.

LOL! Maybe to shut us up? Maybe they are paid by the White House or somehow profit from these globalist endeavors? They do the same with Buchanan (either Pat or Bay), Tom Tancredo, and Lou Dobbs, spewing hatred for any who dare mention their names. I've also seen them turn on Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter. It makes me sick.

Once the bomb goeas off, who heck will care about that?

Again, hy not look for an American company to do this?

The way this has been handled reeks of cronyism, back room deals, and corruption.

US Customs is essentially forward-deployed at every foreign port in the world:

Now that is good to know. I guess someone is thinking ahead to the idea of only needing to get the ship into a populated area.

Chris1,
That's what I'm discovering. There really is no difference between them and the DEMS. They are what Nancy Reagan referred to as "Jump off the cliff conservatives". But these are just people who will jump off the cliff if Bush tells them to. Pathetic.

"Code sharing" was just a way for me to use some shorthand in a way that most people would understand. Ocean Carriers are very similiar to Air Carriers. They have high capital costs (vessels and planes). Their service is usually built around a port rotation. And their provisioning is restricted by slots/seats.

The difference in service comes into play when the cargo hits the ground.. so the ocean lines (in an effort to not commit suicide via price wars) got together and decided to split the cost of the commodity (the carrying of a container over water).

So you can have cargo travelling under a P&O Neddlloyd Bill of Lading, inside a NYK container, laden on an OOCL vessel being serviced by a port run by K-Line.

Which is directly related to this issue.. because no matter who the players are.. US CUSTOMS IS US CUSTOMS. US CUSTOMS (FDA, USDA) are the gatekeeper.

I have some direct experience in national security.

Trust me on this, as poorly the public image of the CIA has become, it is only to the advantage of our foriegn intelligence personnel.

The worlds supply of all nuclear weapons material is strictly accounted for. Any attempt to smuggle a TND into one of our ports is very remote without our people knowing about it.

As far as the need for this billion dollar radar detector, it's just another BS story. We already have many undisclosed methods of detecting any radiological materials or devices but they are deeply classified.

The bottom line here,is for people to quit hyperventilating over this port issue. It is not a major big risk deal like it is being made out to be.
