the momentum is building, this deal is gone by early next week.

No it wont.

And it wont primarily because the DEMS DONT WANT IT GONE. They want the issue! They will posture and bloviate, but in the end, they will do nothing. Bet on it.

there is no more taliban running Afghanistan.

Ah, the point was the UAE until very recently still considered the Taliban the legal authority in Afghanistan. Tell it to them.

And what with declining teamster power due to containerization

Actually, containerization has helped save the Teamsters from irrelevance. When you can load from the ship to a truck with a mouse click, the long-haul driver is more important than ever. It's the longshoremen who are in decline.

the white house will wake up at some point. or the British company will see what's coming, and the acquisition will be reversed.

If you ask me, we should all be receiving a salary from the Bush Administration. Hell, no one actually in the administration seems to want to defend and support their own actions. Why should they spend the time and effort when we will do it for them. I'm honestly getting tired of it. If they don't even feel the need to come out and support their actions and policies, and fight back against the merciless slander the left throws at them, why should I spend my time, for free, to do it?

I'd vote to ban the Skype phones in the US, I would also support banning the sale of prepaid cell phones.

Oh, oh, I have both of those.

Anyway, despite all the denials on this thread, mid easterners having any operational access to U.S. infrastructure is a risk we can't take in this day and age. This is true even if the individuals/companies involved in the actual contract have no bad intentions. Others may.

Do they still recognize the taliban? Did they criticize the US for taking the taliban out of power?

The answers you already know, but you would rather rant than post facts.

The ONLY 'security' the UAE company will be in charge of is the security of their assets at the port. Just as any 'leaser' of dock space.

How can some of you be so naive as to think Bush would put NATIONAL SECURITY in the hands of ANYONE!!!!

PLEASE!! This is a shipping company basically that is being sold. NOTHING will change, NOTHING will be different operationally from the company who is selling it. The new owners will have to abide by OUR rules and regulations!!

The British government has no problem with this sale and they will be operating in THEIR PORTS ALSO!

There has been enough information and links posted the past few days that there is NO EXCUSE for this inane gullible thinking!

This port issue is a tempest in a teapot stirred up by Shmucky Shumer and Hitlery in an effort to make themselves look good on Homeland Security issues.
I'm not a bushbot.... I don't agree with our President on his handling of our borders and immigration. One thing I do know is I don't trust anything coming out of a Shumer or Clinton.

I have to totally agree with that sentiment.

"A raving lunatic talking to a schmuck"

Which is the real lunacy, President Bush's plan to have Arab Muslims control the security of our east coast shipping ports, or Michael Savage's plan to stop it from happening?

I'll take Savage's 'lunacy' anyday over President Bush's trusting my country to our mortal enemies. I think this country has gone insane. No wonder why people like Michael Savage have to scream their brains out to try and reach people.

UAE is home for a company bidding management contracts. Security and oversight would still be in the hands of USA. Schumer's interest is to protect unions, of course. He isn't worried about security.

I'm sensing a nail being hit squarely on the head!

DaimlerChrysler is a great example. It was billed as a "marriage,"? and the Germans took complete control in 2-3 years.
