Didn't Nightline's translation say something like Saddam said he loves America and would never hurt his own people and if Bush would stop meaning mean there would be no terrorism.
"KSTP General Manager Rob Hubbard said the station refused to run the ad, which began running last week, because of the claim that the media are intentionally misleading citizens.
He said the station often airs so-called third-party issue ads whether the station agrees with them or not, as long as it can be determined that the ads are accurate and verifiable.
"We think it may or may not be true for other media but we know it's not true about us, which is why we wouldn't take those spots," he said. "We know it's not accurate about how we approach our news and we didn't feel it was appropriate just to take someone's money. We weren't going to let them take a shot at us that wasn't warranted"

Hey.... that's a really innovative way of looking at it, and certainly not one I would have thought of myself. Can I borrow it to use against the Bushaters? :D
We really need to get over our Kofi Addiction. :@ *GAH* He makes me *SO* mad, I could bust a vessel!
I'm shocked! SHOCKED!
Knew it knew it knew it.
Didn't Saddam plot an assassination attempt on X41?
Even that is not enough, we need someone that understands the nuances of the speech, the slang, the intent of what was said. You can read a sentence, but not the WAY it was said. I bet ABC did this, a strait translation onto paper, but only the translator himself understands which way the words should used.
I generally like Sean, but that is the one thing I hate most about his show; he continually interupts his guests to get his points across, rather than letting them finish a thought. What's wrose, is that he does this with those whom he agrees and supports.
No need. ABC has their own disinformation division.
You should have seen the reporter (Ross?) with Diane Sawyer yesterday. They were literally de-demonizing Saddam. To these people, he's just 'Snidely Whiplash'.
"So what he had a couple rape rooms and gave a couple people acid baths, he's not nearly as evil as W. Bush."
Or if the Bush Administration would finally get off of its ass and start standing up for itself for once. My God! It's like they enjoy being punching bags and letting important facts that would let the people in this country know the truth be swept aside by the media. What the hell is it going to take for the administration to start making sure that this information gets out???
Not sure if you are right or not but your analysis made a lot of sense and got me thinking. To add to what you said - what if Bush knew Saddam spirited the WMDs to Syria and still attacked and doesn't want everyone to know that?
Gee, shocker...NOT!
Its just a thought, but one that makes sense to me, or at least helps make sense of things that otherwise make little sense.
"Spirit(ing) the WMDs to Syria" would actually bolster his case for war. It would reflect Saddam's willingness to hide that he has the WMD and also his willingness to export the WMD.
Why are we not surprised.
I heard this yesterday. #@!*(%& Hannity wouldn't let the guy talk!! The guy was trying to carefully lay out what he had heard Hussein say about attacking the US and stupid Hannity kept talking over the guy and eventually cut him off completely for a damned hard break.
Here we have a guy, who knows what Saddam said a guy with PROOF that Hussein was a threat. AND $#@^&#% HANNITY WOULDN'T LET HIM TALK!!!!
I had a joke yesterday as I knew that the spin was transparent from the media.
The way they positioned it was that Saddam was helping the US by telling us.
They didn't do the normal approach in scary quotes: Saddam "warns" US about potential terrorist chemical attack.
I wanted to ask these "journalists" well did Saddam warn us before or after he tried to assassinate a US President?
