I don't think so.... they give this "Inspiriational Leadership Award" to one member of Congress each year. That is all she is claiming on her web site.

Harry Reid got it in 2003

Michael Bilirakis got it:

How sad is it that we have to go through this story and calm people down because someone on OUR SIDE is writing fabrications?

How in the world can anything be done about this when Robert Ray wouldn't do anything about her "factually inaccurate" (i.e., perjurious) testimony?

"I still consider this award a blasphemy!

LLS"

There is a real story there - was it wise for this largely conservative organization to associate themselves with Hillary on the grounds that she has more or less supported the war and apparently cosponsored the Purple Heart Stamp bill?

The timing, as she starts to criticize the administration more and more and tries to distance herself from left makes this a political award whether the organization intended that or not.

I know the real story takes more thought but it's really a more serious question.

"..by co-sponsoring legislation for a Purple Heart commemorative stamp."

The only question would be which photo of John Kerry to use: young hippy, or "elder statesman"?

In each case though...it is not an offical "Purple Heart". That is my only point, and some people may think it is, just by its name.

New Smax is a blog...that's it. It's a large, profitable blog, but it's a blog.

This story is rather typical of their work. The truth is there in the stories...somewhere, but the headlines are often misleading and you have to read down a few paragraphs to find out what they're really talking about.

Personally, I find it offensive and detrimental to conservatism. Others' opinions differ from mine, I guess.

Okay...I see. NewsMax appears to be trumping things up and fanning flames.

You're right....there is enough stuff against HRC. Why on earth would anybody want to embellish stuff like this?

The story also demonstrates NewsMax's respect for the troops, the truth, and their intended audience (non-existent in all cases).

It never ends...

These bastards INSIST on demeaning all that was ever honorable....

Sacrifice is becoming something only stupid assholes endure.. Certainly not our elitist civil servants or their families.....

Politicians must be genetically predisposition to shit on veterans... They are destined to lead, but certainly not by example....

First on a major scale was the idiot peanut farmer who pardoned the draft dodgers who fled to Canada, then draft dodging Clinton is elected "Commander in Chief", then Kerry is revealed as a liar who parlayed 3 bloodless PHs into a "Go Home Free" card, then Murtha with his self confessed undeserved PHs, back stabbing our troops and now Hillary is awarded a Purple Heart..

Is there no end to the insults?

Boy I hope these leftist bitches aren't all using birth control or abortion -- because they're going to need someone to protect them soon. Not me, not mine, not anymore.

F'em all.

.... garnered the award without being wounded in combat - or sustaining any kind of injury at all - as is usually the case with Purple Heart recipients.

WAYYYYYYYY out of line! I don't care what the context of the article, who they're insulting or why. That statement, jovial or otherwise, is completely uncalled for and puts a stain on our past present and future deserving recipients.

Carl, you're a schmuck today, which isn't usually the case.

The headline has been changed from the original, which just read "Hillary Clinton Awarded Purple Heart." As is the rule here on Free Republic, the thread title was changed to reflect the current NewsMax headline.

To see the original headline, you can search Google News for "Hillary Purple Heart" (no quotes).

The first line of the story, however, still claims that she asked for, and was awarded the Purple Heart. At least it did last time I looked. It may get changed, too.

I cannot speak for the Marines since I was in the Army, but 27 is not too old too enlist. This is undadulterated BS as is the awarding the Purple Heart to this socialist POS. What ever possessed the MOPH to award this to her?
