Sounds like you have horrible friends.
So agree with you.
As long as there are women who have had abortions around, there will be women speaking out against abortion because they are the ones who become the most anti-abortion. While I am completely against abortion, it does not consume my life. I find that women & men who have been involved in abortions can be more passionate about it.
Reminds me of "The most vocal non-smoker is a former smoker".
Also, I know how I deeply regret things that I have said or done in the past -- they crop up in my mind years later and shame me. It must be so much worse to have those thoughts about your own baby.
Thanks for this, Chris and Saundra.
Try your local Crisis Pregnancy Center, they are usually in the Yellow Pages under Abortion Alternatives sections.
I volunteered at one for several years and we helped hundreds of post-abortive and misscarriaged women. You will find comfort, love, acceptance, and real-life information to help you heal from these experiences.
NO woman really wants an abortion. It is sold as a "quick-fix" to a problem. Most abortion clinics really do not want to even see the patient again if she is having emotional problems unless it's for a repeat procedure.
The first step to healing is accepting the truth about the humanity of the child and then to get to the part where you can forgive others and yourself.
It was surprising to me that the most common coping mechanizism was denial. Denial that could last years or decades. Just know that you are not alone and there are people willing and ready to be there for you to help heal the hurt. There IS hope!
Thanks for the ping, Saundra.
Powerful message you've presented, Chris.
Oh, and BTW, Chris. It really does my heart good to observe you in choir, especially with the upbeat music. Rock On for Jesus, Dude!
"I recently sold a horror story that is actually an anti-abortion story. I am shocked it sold, as I've been trying to sell it for some time."
One of Harlan Ellison's best known stories is on that theme; "Croatoan" was published over thirty years ago.
Yes, but he's Harlan Ellison and a well-known advocate of abortion. I am only me and times and the markets for short fiction have changed.
He may be, but you've never read the story, apparently.
I have. It's among my 40+ Ellison books. I don't get your point in accusing me of not having read it.
It's not what I consider a piece of abortion advocacy. :)
I never said it was. I was saying that Ellison is a well-known advocate for abortion and a big name, so when he wrote it there was no problem getting it published because his pro-choice credentials were known. I, on the other hand, am an unknown working in much smaller markets with publishers and editors who are a lot more sensitive about not printing something which might be considered "right wing".
Funny. I, too, took offense at "mean people suck". But then I decided the saying was correct. The mean people who are anti-babies, who only are concerned about their own problems, who abuse children, etc. etc. -- well, they really do suck.
Yes, it literally is under the Fifth Amendment.

"Can I Live"
(feat. Anthony Hamilton)
[Talking]
Talking Ma
I know the Situation is Personal
But it something that has to be told
As I was making this beat
You was all I could think about you heard my voice
[Verse 1]
Yeah Just think Just Think
What if you could Just
Just blink your self away..
Just Just wait just pause for a second
Let me plead my case
It's the late 70's Huh
You Seventeen huh
And having me that will ruin everything huh
It's alot of angels waiting on their wings
You see me in your sleep so you cant kill your dreams
300 Dollars thats the price of living what?
Mommy I dont like this clinic
Hopefully you'll make the right decision
And dont go through with the Knife incision
But it's hard to make the right move
When you in high school
How you have to work all day and take night school
Hopping off da bus when the rain is pouring
What you want morning sickness or the sickness of mourning
[Chorus]
I'll Always Be a part of you
Trust Your Soul Know it's always true
If I Could Talk I'd Say To You
CAN I LIVE
CAN I LIVE
I'll Always Be a part of you
Trust Your Soul Know it's always true
If I Could Talk I'd Say To You
CAN I LIVE
CAN I LIVE
[Verse 2]
I am a child of the king
Ain't no need to go fear me
And I see the flowing tears so know that you hear me
When I move in your womb that's me being scary
Cause who knows what my future holds
Yo the truth be told you ain't told a soul
Yo you ain't even showing I'm just 2 months old
Through your clothes try to hide me deny me
Went up 3 sizes
Your pride got you lying saying ain't nothing but a migraine
It ain't surprising you not trying to be in Wic food lines
Your friends will look at you funny but look at you mommy
That's a life inside you look at your tummy
What is becoming ma I am Oprah bound
You can tell he's a star from the Ultrasound
Our Sprits Connected Doors Open Now
Nothing But Love And Respect Thanks For Holding Me Down She Let Me Live...
[Chorus]
I'll Always Be a part of you
Trust Your Soul Know it's always true
If I Could Talk I'd Say To You
CAN I LIVE
CAN I LIVE
I'll Always Be apart of you
Trust Your Soul Know it's always true
If I Could Talk I'd Say To You
CAN I LIVE
CAN I LIVE
[Repeat 2]
[Nick Talking]

Ain't making no decisions

I've been thinking for a long, long time that the ultimate horror movie would have something to do with abortion. Part of me says it's in bad taste to even talk about abortion and an entertainment medium in the same sentence. But I'm told that 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' help awaken the nation to the slavery. A movie -- even in the horror genre -- might help wake people to abortion.
