NEW YORK - Saddam Hussein told aides in the mid-1990s that he warned the United States it could be hit by a terrorist attack, ABC News reported Wednesday, citing 12 hours of tapes the network obtained of the former Iraqi dictator's talks with his Cabinet.
One of Saddam's son-in-laws also explained how Iraq hid its biological weapons programs from U.N. inspectors, according to the tapes from August 1995.
The coming terrorist attack Saddam predicted could involve weapons of mass destruction.
"Terrorism is coming. I told the Americans," Saddam is heard saying, adding he "told the British as well."
"In the future, what would prevent a booby trapped car causing a nuclear explosion in Washington or a germ or a chemical one?" Saddam said.
But he insisted Iraq would never launch such an attack. "This story is coming, but not from Iraq," he said.

I think the spin is too cover their own sorry a$$es and not hyaving to focus on the real story which they touch on after that BS headline....which is they "intention of building and rebuilding weapons of mass destruction..."
It will be interesting how this conference plays out this weekend.

BUT, they did include the passage in which his son-in-law admits that
all the "admissions" Iraq had made on their weapons programs were lies.
As in the court-room...once a witness admits a lie, you really can't tell
when he stops lying.
I saw that as the one admission that just about ends any thought of
confidently saying "there was no weapons program" after the first Gulf War.

These tapes just show the George Bush was such a great liar that even Saddam thought he had WMD.
I thought Jerry Nadler was a horizontally challenged Congressman from New York. Is the author related?
The CIA is already going berserk because it's being exposed how incompetent they are - 34,000 boxes of untranslated tapes, information on where the WMD's went, etc. Two former CIA directors have already been pressured to resign from the Board of Directors of the organization which is publicizing these tapes.
The CIA is spinning around like whirling dervishes.

Yes...and that's the excuse/defense that the Democrats, ACLU and pacifists
are willing to take.
And most of our journalists are willing to promote and publicize.
The headline could have just as accurately said, "Saddam threatened the U.S. with terrorism".
