Peggy's jealousy came through loud and clear on that one.
But it wasn't as hideous as this......
Yes, that was it...Noonan used the "God" theme to malign Bush's speech, saying, generally, that Bush was too "God" oriented or inclined and it was a "turn off" to her and to who she thought the audience was.
I went into great detail on another site about it and quoted her column in many areas so was not at all this general, but I received a lot of very ardent criticism for "daring" to even question Noonan's piety, or whatever it was.
I found her comments incredibly offensive, now that I recall those comments. About as offensive as her speculating -- as if it's in the works, a reality outside her hairdo -- about Bush replacing Cheney.
This is, in fact, SPIN. Media posits a question as if the question's in play, already been confronted, and then carries forward "discussing" the question. Noonan really, really seems to be spinning for a Hillary job, no doubt about it.
I was right about her, despite her work for Reagan. But I now think to Reagan's credit that it was his talent reaching through Noonan's scribing more than vice versa, in her former work with Reagan as to speechwriting.
