I'll tell you what happened to Peggy Noonan. She volunteered her speech writing services to Bush for the 2004 campaign and got turned down, cold. Never mind that her wordy, flowery style would be a terrible fit for Bush's down home manner of speaking, she's been in a snit, ever since.
Good point.
I think a lot of under-the-radar libs have been exposed by this Cheney hunting incident.
So, if nothing else, the whole affair has outed the enemy.
Peggy Neener isn't a conservative and never has been. From her WSJ screeds, I see her as more of a moderate who was much more comfortable in the George H. W. Bush administration than she was in Ronald Reagan's White House. You're absolutely spot on about her "points of light" writing style. Totally out of sync with Dubya's Texas shorthand. Michael Gerson is the ideal wordsmith for the president, even better than David Frum was.
Something tells me that when Neener's contract with Dow Jones & Co. runs out, it won't be renewed...
I knew I should copy this earlier today
Torie said it very well!
