Doctors rallying Monday at the Capitol warned lawmakers that legislation aimed at denying state services to illegal immigrants may further strain overcrowded emergency rooms and endanger the health of all Georgians.

About 150 physicians, medical students and other health care workers labeled as "immoral" and "dangerous" proposals that would make it harder for some illegal immigrants to get publicly funded health care and called the bills an affront to their profession.

Your post gives me great fear for your future. Be on the lookout for the Smithsonian folks with a huge bell jar. I'm afraid they are going to attempt to preserve the last physician in a land of "Fee"sicians.

I'm sure these doctors won't mind paying the cost from their pockets.

There are way too many liberals in medicine these days because the liberals run the medical schools. It has ruined the field of medicine ie(DR. Dean). I remember having to write an essay how I would add to the diversity of my medical school class (Barf).

A two tiered health care system has developed because of illegal immigration. Private insurance vs. Medi-Cal. The illegals have overwhelmed Medi-Cal insurance to where reimbursement is so low to hospitals and physicians. Many physicians have dropped Medi-cal because $11 an office visit won't cover their office overhead. Plus, you must have a language interpreter for any Spanish speaking patients. The money for the interpreter comes out of the $11. The major tragedy is the indigent U.S. citizen suffers.

Exactly. Just think, they now have a chance to practice in accordance with their hippocratic oath, healing the sick and injured illegal aliens for free, or are they just hypocrits?

AN HEIR TO THE COCA-COLA FORTUNE WANTS TAXPAYER'S TO FUND HIS CHARITY PRACTICE!!!

******

Dr. Bill Warren, as an heir to the Coca-Cola fortune, Warren just could have made a financial contribution to an inner-city clinic; he didn't have to devote his life to it.

Good Samaritan Health Center is a non-profit healthcare practice that provides a comprehensive range of services for patients without health insurance or the means to afford care

http://www.netministry.com/clientfiles/63326/DrWarren.jpg

In 1995, Dr. Bill Warren left his private pediatric practice in Sandy Springs to fulfill a calling; he wanted to serve Atlanta’s neediest residents. In 1998, the Good Samaritan Health Center was formed and in 1999, it opened for service with a staff of eight, and a handful of volunteers. The Center has grown rapidly having over 17,500 patient visits in 2004.

The Center provides a comprehensive range of services for patients without the means to afford care. Atlanta’s homeless make up about 20% of patient visits, the working poor 70%, and those who are Medicaid/Medicare eligible compose 10% of our visits. Patients pay on a much reduced sliding fee scale based on income. The Center’s vision is to create a dependable, full-time, comprehensive healthcare system for Atlanta’s working poor and homeless. We offer an ongoing relationship with a network of dedicated healthcare specialists who address each need. Most importantly, The Center provides a comfortable environment for our patients, where all people are treated with dignity and respect.

The two-story brick building in the heart of an Atlanta housing project is nondescript.

Patients sometimes meander into the second floor clinic without appointments. Most of the patients come from the surrounding community.

Groups of youngsters are often brought in by churches, shelters and other social service organizations.

The center also contains a dental examination room with two chairs. During the times when dentists are on-site, patients are lined up and waiting. Dentistry is one of the most needed services, as few dental offices accept Medicaid.

Now, Warren spreads himself out among several obligations, including the Grant Park Family Health Center, Mercy Mobile's Central Health clinic, and the Good News at Noon free clinic in Gainesville.

Why can't we a ICE substation at every Hospital and grab them while they are there.

Any reason why U.S. hospitals couldn't provide free transport to a Mexican hospital?

If U.S. hospitals provided free transportation to Mexico for illegal aliens, would it simply be an added cost, or would it discourage illegals from going to hospitals?

(Dr. Bill) Warren’s private, non-profit health center is located between Centennial Olympic Park and the North Avenue corporate offices of The Coca-Cola Company, which his family founded. Warren is the great-great grandson of soft drink magnate Asa G. Candler, and the great-great nephew of Bishop Warren A. Candler, Emory University’s first chancellor.

1888 -- Atlanta entrepreneur Asa G. Candler acquires control of the Coca-Cola Company, for $2,300.

1892 -- Candler founded the Coca-Cola Company

1893 -- "Coca-Cola" was patent pending at the US patent office as trademark.

1917 -- Asa G. Candler is elected mayor

1920 -- a Tudor-styled mansion built by Charles Howard Candler, eldest son of Coco-Cola founder Asa G. Candler.

Also, they miss the lesson of Britain's universal health care, which proves to be aggravatingly limited.

How can Candler have founded a company he earlier bought the rights to?

I can think of maybe 2 other professions being less immoral than M.D., Banker and Lawyer.

SOLUTION: Allow these "Doctors, medical students and other health care workers" to voluntarily treat the illegals absolutely free of charge and on their own time.

Let's see how fast they are to offer their time, FREE OF CHARGE!

My personal favorite story regarding healthcare for illegal aliens...and I am NOT making this up:

I was watching the "fine living" channel one night about a year ago, because they were featuring a story on "benefit auctions."

This particular episode featured the Napa Valley vinters who were holding an auction to benefit the local "free clinic" that treated Mexican vineyard workers.

They interviewed the pretentious ass who owned the vineyard where this auction was taking place, and he had the temerity to say that public funding was falling short of taking care of all of the costs; so they were staging this auction to raise money for the healthcare of their workers. BECAUSE THE WORKERS DIDN'T MAKE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR HEALTH INSURANCE!

His own employees! That's the mentality that we are dealing with...just thought you should know.

Doctors are no less looking to capitlize on illegals than Big Business looking for cheap labor.

I forgot, doctors are above reproach as a profession. They want the illegals on the gov't gravy train, don't forget it.
