I would think that members of the Russian team would wear that.
Forget the Russians (many are pro soviet).. Mabie a Pole can smack him back to reality
PING
US figure skater wears CCCP jacket
Maybe he could wear a Che Guevera T-shirt, too!
If he's supporting the Soviet political system he's a swine and should be shipped to China.
If he's simply sporting a jacket he got from a Soviet-era olympian, I don't see what's the fuss. I know a guy who trained at the olympic center when the Soviet team was there pre-92, and traded jeans for a Soviet jacket. He loves the jacket too much to ever ponder wearing it.
Why must you folks ping me?
I can, and frequently do, hit the keyword Russia on the main page. I don't need to be pinged.
No more like from Broken Butte Mountin!
At least she's worth listening to... sometimes...
What WOULD Brian Boitano do?
Oh, and is anyone else catching on to the fact that "CCCP" is NOT necessarily Cyrillic?
Did he grow up in Berkeley CA, Cambridge MA or Greenwich Village NY?
More like the love child of Al Gore and BILL Clinton.
TURIN, Italy - The first time judges laid eyes on figure skater Johnny Weir's swan costume - resplendent with 8,000 rhinestones, faux feathers, a fishnet sleeve and a red glove he calls "Camille" - they had the same reaction as many television viewers and commentators. "They hated it," said Weir. "They want plain with a little sparkle, but that's no fun. They were going off on it, told me not to wear it again. They think it's ugly. They think it's distracting. And they don't like the glove at all. I said, `Thank you," and kept wearing it.
"Too much work went into it, plus I spent about $5,000 on my two costumes. I stood there and had my costume maker place every one of those feathers on my body. It took three months to make. My butt still looks too big in it, but otherwise, I love it."
funny stuff. I can't believe there are that many people that watch mens figure skating. I had to watch American Idol instead, I get totally pumped for the Olympics but I cant watch the figure skating, i get annoyed with all the "judging" that goes on, its too subjective. That, plus there is nothing appealing about a guy shimmying around in spandex and faux fleshtone outfits.
"That boy ain't right."
Yeah, that guy is a piece of crap. Do the best for your team you little idiot.
And a Swiss costume elicited this reaction from NBC commentator Dick Button: "Looks like a distant family relative of my dining room curtains."
Great line! LOL
Well, the kids wearing "CHE" shirts were born recently too, but I don't think they should be given a "break" for being born after the bloodshed.
As opposed to all the macho male figure skaters?
