Great find. But seriously, this has happened to US Athletes before in the Olypmics. As I recall there were a couple of boxers who were DQ'd because their schedules and the bus schedules were changed without their knowledge. It was probably in Seoul or possibly Barcelona.

It just makes me angry that people wear symbols like "CCCP" and the hammer and sickle as if they were some sort of fashion statementWhen we protested the "Sindee Sheehan" bus tour in St Louis last year, one of her (few) admirers wore his hammer and sickle t-shirt and was so proud of himself. geeeesh. I'm glad we were there to protest.

the US skater who refused to skate on the team relay team and stated that he didn't care what people thought of him...should have been immediately sent home on the first plane out of Italy. I missed that one. When did this happen?

Speed skater Shani Davis is one of our best skaters. He however failed to race in the team pursuit - where we had a sure shot for a medal and a strong contender for a gold.
But Davis refused to race. When questioned he reponded, "I don't care what people think".
He doesn't care about his Olympic teammates, he doesn't care about his countyr (in fact he refused to train in the US and trains in Canada)
Some say he is jealous of the other elite skater, Hedrick, who he competes against in the 1000 and 1500. Hedrick did skate in the team pursuit.
No Wheaties box for Shani Davis regardless.

Johnny Weir is a little boy who does and says 'controversial' things to get attention. If he wasn't an olympic skater he would be in his third year of community college.
