The Vice President has given an exclusive interview to Fox News. The entire interview will be released at 6:00 EST with excerpts coming as soon as 2:00 this afternoon.
"First reports are often wrong."
Boy, ain't that the truth.
"The white house press corps were just sad of who got the news first."
With or without the birdshot? LOL!
I voted for the VP. It is my right to have him serve his whole term.
Yup...checking with the family before news conferences...HIPPA in action.
This is the first time that I have seen Cheney humble and not coming across as the "tough guy". I am impressed with his interview so far. No one thought it possible that he was so traumatized by the situation that he couldn't think straight himself. Everyone had this big conspiracy theory and crap... Shame on them all!
I'm watching now - getting here late
What did I miss?
Funny, there didn't seem to be any in my bird at all!
Cheney: My first reaction was that my friend Harry needs to be taken care of, not to call the press. We had to talk to his family. HIs wife was at the ranch. DIdn't want the kids to hear it on television.
We also didn't know his medical condition. We did not know until Sunday morning that he was probably going to be okay.
His wife knew as he was leaving the ranch. I didn't call the kids, but made sure the yknew before tv.
First reports are often wrong. There was enough variation in reports we were getting...we really didn't know until Sun. morning that Harry was going to be probably okay and it didn't hit any vital organs.
Brit: You must hav eknown this would be a big story.
Cheney: Unprecedented. Not since Aaron Burr.
Brit: Did it occur to you that something like this, sooner is better.
Cheney: This is a complicated story.
Brit: You knew he was shot and you shot him and that evening that all the members of his family was called.
Cheney: If we put out a report on what we knew Saturday night it would have been superficial injuries.
Brit: You knew this would be a national story. COuldn't you head off the Belway firestorm if you put out to the national media vs. the local media.
Cheney: Who is going to do that? Will they take my word for what happened? We went with Mrs. Armstrong and she was the most credible person; she was a witness.
Brit: The suspicious grows that this was an attempt to minizie it.
Cheney: There wasno way this would be minimized. What I've experieced is that media outlets have proliferated and speed is at the expense of accuracy and I think Kathryn was an excellent choice.
I'm heartsick about him, snugs. Just heartbroken.
I have to go feed Mr. Peach though or else he'll be heartbroken :-)
And the story would be about the attempted "Cover-up!"
I really love Mr. Chaney , he is such a good good man.
All I see and hear here is honor , dignity, truthfulness and deep compassion and genuine concern. I sure appreciate it when an honorable man readily admits an error . It is such a refreshing thing in this day & age where most try their best to weasel out of everything they can.
Unlike a certain senator from NY.
Thank goodness it was Katharine. The first thing Mr. Whittington's daughter said was that they didn't know if he was being taken to a hospital or a mortuary. *cringe*
He is very upset you can see it in his body language he feels awful about it.
I agree with everything you said. The bottom line is that no matter what Mr. Cheney had done regarding this story, it wouldn't have been the right decision for the main stream media.
There is no better man on the face of this earth than VP Dick Cheney. We are fortunate that he is in this administration, and I dare anyone to say differently whatever his party may be.

Back to the Cheney interview now on FNC...
Ummmm...earth to McAuliff: The Secret Service is law enforcement.
