Congress gets Hustler magazine, even if it is unwanted
WASHINGTON - The porn magazine arrives every month at your congressman's office. Tucked in a conservative-looking manila envelope, the latest edition of Hustler goes to all 535 members of Congress. Free of charge. Not that most members want it. It usually gets thrown in the circular file marked trash. But like clockwork, it keeps coming, despite efforts to have it stop. I think that this action by Flynt to be highly amusing.
It shows which Congressmen are idiots that feel the need to have lawsuits and government intervention in a situation which can be easily resolved by reading the sender's address and throwing it in the trash.
At worst someone has to look at the cover of a magazine which they find mildly offensive.
If they can't deal with having to throw away Hustler magazines once a month I doubt they're prepared to deal with serious issues as congressmen and don't belong in office.
If Flynt wants to waste his money by sending magazines to all of Congress, I think he should be able to do so.
I also suspect that prudish Congressmen getting upset about it and filing lawsuits makes for good publicity for Flynt with his target audience.
I've never bought his magazine, and I have no intention of buying it. However I do find it amusing to see that some of our elected officials can't simply throw it away if they don't want it, but get pulled into the obvious snare of making a big deal out of it.

Welcome to FR. If you would just answer one of the posters then the rest of us would know how genuine your desire to participate here is.
But doesn't their mail come through a mailroom? Isn't one of the functions of mailrooms to sort through and find dangerous mail? I'm sure each Congressperson could put in a request to not receive this and the mailroom would retreive it out before it distributed the mail.
