Should Liberals, Democrats, and the Left be pro-life? A member of the ACLU and PETA believes they should, and has written a book explaining why liberals should oppose abortion. In The Liberal Case Against Abortion, writer and activist, Vasu Murti presents formidable arguments why it the prevailing philosophy of the liberal movement demands opposition of abortion.
The Liberal Case Against Abortion is unlike any other pro-life book, as it was written by a liberal to help convince others that share his beliefs to defy the political stereotype and reconsider the movement's position regarding the rights of the unborn.
While Murti's book is geared for fellow liberals and Democrats, it is invaluable for more traditional pro-lifers, as it shows them pro-life arguments that are based on critical tenants of the liberal philosophy to use with friends, family, and government representatives.
By creatively and passionately using the universal question of the rights of animals, Murti analyzes the rights of the unborn, writes Carol Crossed, President of Democrats for Life of America, in the foreword of the book. The power of his persuasion is not based on one or more bodies of religious thought, but on sentient beings' natural tendency to protect one another.
The Liberal Case Against Abortion is published by R.A.G.E. Media, which has also published the Catholic and Pro-Life Guerrilla Apologetics books by Paul Nowak. They can be found at major retailers, including Amazon.com, as well as R.A.G.E. Media's website www.dyinglight.com.
i think PETA should be pro-life, too, and stop throwing bombs at medical research labs. but that's just me
OTOH, if the choice were between a fetus and an animal, I think we know how PETA would choose.
There is a more pragmatic reason the Dims should oppose abortion ---
90% of the people of color vote democrat
Various statistics say 40% - 80% of the abortions are of people of color
Huge potential voter block (or voter fraud block) that would presumably show up in the democrat column
I used to live in an apartment building with some critical tenants. They eventually got evicted.
I've been waiting for libs to figure this out. As George Will once wrote, if someone from Mars were to visit earth, have the basic tenets of liberalism and conservatism explained to him, and asked how he would suppose a liberal should stand on abortion, the little green guy would assume that libs must surely be opposed.

Right conclusion; wrong reasons.
So I take it that it makes totally different arguments against abortion. Or else liberals have found yet another way to claim conservative views aren't really conservative.
tee-hee, your post made me laugh
Good writing, mydear, and spot on
I've often noted that the philosophical underpinnings of the anti-abortion movement have a lot in common with those of the extremist animal rights movement. This confirms my belief.
