Today's events include Women's Downhill, Curling, Men's Moguls, Hockey, Luge Doubles, Nordic Combined, Short Track Speed Skating and Speed Skating.
Complete Olympic Schedule (Presumably updated with Results)
It appears the USA relay team has the 2nd best time with one more heat remaining.
It's CBC.
Bronze is still great! More than I have, LOL!
Some of us should get the Gold for putting up with NBC.
Ok how could the USA mens Speed Skate relay team have the 2nd best time and be eliminated? I know this is a new event but that makes no sense to me at all.
Did they have to win a qualificaion heat in order to advance? This make no sense..
It was knock-out quarter finals. The Italian team was very strong.
Fun for the home crowd. Sad for Hedrick and the USA.
I'll be rooting for Italy and Norway for the remainder of that event.
I think the USA missed Davies, whom I have understood refused to be on the US team in order to focus on his 1000 meters individual competition.
Hedrick was cursing like a sailor when they came in behind Italy. His dream of copying Heisan was obviously not to be. Then again. Heiden winning the 500 and the 10 000 meters would never have been equaled anyhow.
My childhood hero legend lives on :-)
Cheers.
I am trying to figure out the rules. Something about the 3rd member has to cross first for the team to win and that didnt happen?
What has your favorite moment been so far?
I just rewatched Shaun Whites 2nd run in Snowboard and I just love this kid. It was really a great OLYMPIC moment.
It was a knockout competition. The USA paired against Italy.
It's like the tempo stages in the tour de France. Well a bit. The team time is when the slowest crosses the line. One of the weaker US skater fell a bit behind. But, I think that the entire Italian team had crossed the line before Hedrick led his train across the line.
Interesting event.
What was amazing about Heiden was all the events were outdoors. Can you imagine that today? I was only 13 years old that wonderful year and I still remember running out my front door with my MOM screaming and lighting off fireworks after USA beat Russia. She is now deceases but we have a picture of the two of us holding the American flag right after that win. Add in Heiden. That was the most amazing Olympics. I even made a scrapbook of the events that I still cherish. And let me tell you, pretty excellent job by this then 13 year old.
Russia is playing Slovakia in Hockey.
This is our Slovakian Dance troop....

I was cheering for him to fall after that idiotic spotlight on Weir! What an a#$$!

Oh and I just loved an American wearing a CCCP jacket. That is so 80's.
>>Oh and I just loved an American wearing a CCCP jacket. That is so 80's<<
I thought that's what it was. What a dork.
I've been thinking about that a lot..Americans wearing CCCP clothes. You all may think it shows their support of the old Russia, but I think it's a big middle finger to the former Soviet system.
It's like this: "Ya, Russia, you thought you were so big and so bad, and you thought we'd quake at the mere presence of your athletes...we'd see that CCCP and just give up the medals. Huh! Ya, Russia, did you know we can buy your old clothes at the local goodwill store? Once the claws have been removed from the bear, the bear is not such a big deal."
If I could find some of the Russian gear, I'd wear it. Just to sorta rub it in!
I was a swimmer in a former life. I have tons of CCCP clothes from swimming trips to the former Soviet Union. Should I put those on Ebay for the young?
Well, in his defense (making my skin crawl saying that) nobody believes anyone, including the US can beat Yevgeny Plushenko. After watching him skate last night I also doubt it. Not only a personal best for him but the highest score ever posted for a short program.
