I do agree they want the Chechnyan land under control - and the politics there too. And, they'd like some of the other land they lost in the breakup of the Soviet Union.

I just don't want to call the Russians "Worse" enemies than the Islamofascists

Nothing would make the Russians happier than if they could stay neutral while we fought it out with Islam. They are allies of convenience and nothing more.
