folks, we are going to have to start accepting it - this has not been handled well. we seem to forget everytime, that if our side leaves an information vacuum out there - the media fills in with whatever their version of events is, and we all know what that is. Cheney should have had a press conference today, take the jackals head on, give the information where its appropriate, and where the press oversteps its bounds as we saw today in the frenzy - slap them down.
As usual, I never agree with you.
This is just Public Relations 101. Anyone who's ever been in the business can tell you: Get ahead of the story from the beginning and you can control it. Miss the opportunity and you're playing defense
WHO. CARES. This was a hunting accident, for crying out loud, and the man is alive. It's not like Cheney committed a crime and was hiding some wrongdoing from the nation. He wasn't even running and hiding he was taking care of the problem he created. The only mistake they can find about this is that he didn't let them know soon enough, and they're milking that for all it's worth. In reality it's a non-issue and they know it and yet they're still trying to make it an issue.
It's as though this administration has to handle everything exactly perfectly from the left's POV, which has no rhyme nor reason BTW, or else they're in the dog house. The result is that they're ALWAYS in the dog house no matter WHAT they do.
It's very tiresome.
I agree. Cheney should face the feeding frenzy and put an end to this nonsense.
I agree.
This is becoming the typical news cycle.
The Bush Admin messes up in the PR department.
The press and the Dems and the libs overreact.
And Freepers tend to attack the left-wing overreaction without addressing the PR incompetence in the White House.
I agree with you. Hmm.
I agree. I have no problem with initially giving the scoop to the local paper, but it did take way too long for the national media to be notified.
And Cheney still hasn't come out publicly except for an almost meaningless statement today.
I agree - the press has not handled this well. But the President and Vice President (or anyone else) have no obligation to share anything that happens in their personal lives with the press. The press might not like it, but that's the facts.
