Russian Moslems may hold serious protests if representatives of sexual minorities attempt to hold a gay parade in Moscow this coming May. This was stated to Interfax on Tuesday by the supreme mufti from the administration of spiritual matters for Moslems (in Russia), Talgat Tajuddin.
"The protests of Moslems (here) can be even worse than the cartoon protests going on outside the country," he said.
He noted that representatives of sexual minorities "can do what they want at home or in some secluded place, in the dark, but if they start to go out into the street and campaign, then society must isolate them so that the youth don't follow their example."
Tajuddin believes that gays cannot demand their rights in public protests. "They don't have any rights, because they are transgressing by having a nontraditional orientation, which is considered a crime against God," said the mufti.
He added that the prophet Mohammed ordered homosexuals killed, since "their activities lead to the curtailment of the human race." Tajuddin emphasized "this is not democracy, this is not even anarchy. This is the end of history. This is disgusting both to man, and to God."
Other (Russian) Moslem leaders regarded his statement with caution. The chairman for administration of spiritual matters for Moslems in the Asian part of Russia, Nafigulla Ashirov, stated to radio station Echo of Moscow that Moslems are categorically against gay parades, but no one will use violence.
"Gay parades should have no place in the lives of normal people," said Ashirov. "The patriarch of the Orthodox Church said that there is an on-going campaign to seduce the Russian people today, and we agree with the statement, and we think, I think, that this is spiritual aggression." He is confident that there will be no illegal actions on the part of Moslems.
The Orthodox Church is also against gay parades being held. Deacon Andrei Kurayev, a professor at the Moscow Ecclesiastical Academy explained in a radio interview that the Church is not speaking out against those persons (who are gay), but against the obtrusive propaganda of the gay culture. Kurayev noted that it is the most disastrous when such people begin to brag and confirm that they have this fashionable life style, and this influences the adolescents' choices.
Eduard Mishin, editor in chief of the Internet portal Gay.Ru, was astonished by the statements of the mufti. In an interview on Echo of Moscow he said that religion should teach tolerance and understanding, and not call for violence. Mishin also said that he is not a supporter of holding gay parades in the manner in which it they are proposed in Russia.

I guess I could chalk it up to the old 'stopped clock is right twice a day' phenomenon.
Kind of have to agree. Gay guys didn't blow up the WTC.
This should be required reading for all fruits who hate Bush.
Most of the New York "gay" community has nothing but negative to say about Bush and the war.
Hey guys, who is standing between you and these for-real homophobes?
Bush is the last guy in the world the gay community should be slamming.
I strongly disagree. Giving gays what they want only encourages them.

What's Pat Robertson doing in Moscow?
Just think of the dilemma for the liberals: Their favorite victim group VS. their brothers-in-hate. Tough call for college professors, eh?
Yeah, right.
...as a member of a repressed religious minority, I'm sure he didn't mean it...
But Muslims don't keep trying to contaminate our blood supply with HIV/AIDS.
Threats of violence once a day,
Keeps the infidel dogs away
Just wait 'til they see what the homosexuals will be wearing in this parade - yipes!
Guess they won't be getting big crowds for Brokeback Mountain!
pretty much true everywhere isn't it?
Hey Gays and Queens.....you can sqwark all you want to in the USA about right-wing homophobe policies etc....at least you get to keep your heads on here....both of them. ehehehehehe!
