You've flip-flopped, Johnny. You just said she has a chance, and I could easily pull up more than a few posts of yours where you called for her immediate withdrawal because she had no chance of winning. We've got nine months to go. I would still rate Nelson a slight favorite, but I can't imagine anyone in his campaign feels good about a 49% number for an incumbent in a state that's been trending GOP lately.

I still say that Katherine Harris is a bad candidate and shouldn't be the nominee. But what's done is done, so there's no point in opposing her.

It turns out that Bill Nelson is also a poor candidate, and he doesn't appear to be holding up well under public exposure. He owes his last election to his opponent's shortcomings, not his own strength. Where I went wrong is in overestimating Nelson's appeal, not underestimating Harris's. It's given Harris an opening. I hope she's able to exploit it, but whether she can remains to be seen.
