I still say that Katherine Harris is a bad candidate and shouldn't be the nominee. But what's done is done, so there's no point in opposing her.
It turns out that Bill Nelson is also a poor candidate, and he doesn't appear to be holding up well under public exposure. He owes his last election to his opponent's shortcomings, not his own strength. Where I went wrong is in overestimating Nelson's appeal, not underestimating Harris's. It's given Harris an opening. I hope she's able to exploit it, but whether she can remains to be seen.
That's right, Eeyore, so go eat some thistles until this is all over.
A congressman with nearly two decades of accomplishment behind him, a conservative leader on issues ranging from law & order, to immigration, abortion, affirmative action, and even a house manager during the Clinton impeachment saga, one of the most outstanding in my opinion, next to Henry Hyde and James Sensenbrenner.
Why did such an articulate, compelling candidate do so much worse than President Bush in that state?
