CINCINNATI - Tiny silicon chips were embedded into two workers who volunteered to help test the tagging technology at a surveillance equipment company, an official said Monday.
--snip--
Darks said the implants don't enable CityWatcher.com to track employees' movements.
"It's a passive chip. It emits no signal whatsoever," Darks said. "It's the same thing as a keycard."
--snip--
The company is experimenting with the chips to identify workers with access to vaults where data and images are kept for police departments, he said.

Bend over for your identity tag, comrade. It doesn't bother me that companies are experimenting with abusing their workers like this, as no one in their right mind would continue employment with such a company. But once big daddy government gets a whiff of this, prepare for it to become mandatory for all serfs citizens.

As I said on another thread that had this same topic under discussion, in the (near) future this will be normal. On top of this the protests against such acts will basically be nonexistent. It will be like drug testing .....you either agree to it, or you don't get hired. Simple. Guess what decision the vast majority of people will take. It will not percolate everywhere (in the same way that not all firms have biometric hand scanners and multidigit PIN access numbers), but it will definitely make its way around.
And there will be hardly any sound of protest.

And what does the conversion to digital TV have to do with chipping animals or people? That does not make sense.

It is the mark of the beast, and Christians WILL refuse to be microchipped.

Actually, if give the choice I would rather go the chip route than give the company my biometeric data like finger prints or retina scan data. The latter could be hacked out of their systems and once conpromised, you're screwed. You could always have the chip removed (or hack off your arm). I see the chip as being ultimately less invasive.

It would be a sad day when having an RFID tag injected under your skin is the better option.

It depends...if they let you be chipped on the left forearm or back of the neck...it probably isn't the mark of the beast! If they totally demand the forehead or right hand with-out compromise...then Watch out!

They will have to do that and more to get me ID's like that. A 5 part series of articles in the Sacramento Bee is running on the topic of Sex Offenders. They only have to report in once a year. The "violent" ones only have to report every 90 days.
Meanwhile- go to freerepublic story 1574414 about microchipping every dog, cat, horse, cow, goat, sheep, etc in the USA and that we have to report ALL movements off and on the "home property" of that animal.
Someone in the bearucracy has farr toooooo much time on their hands, and I will not comply.
