Whether it is reported at the exact second of instance, or three weeks later, does it change the facts of the story?

You know it does, harpo. Don't try to deny it!

Two words: Vince Foster

Bingo! If only the White House had thought to dump this poor buck-shot lawyer off at Fort Marcy Park, clutching the smoking rifle, this story would be over by now. < /sarcasm >

Bill Clinton raped several women and the press said nothing.

Stop skirting the issue, 50sDad.

It shouldn't, but you are right, it does. Thanks for input.

I'd say cops have more important things to do than drop everything to investigate an obviously minor hunting accident.

Yeah! Like setting up prostitution stings, conduct "wrong address" drug raids and arrest/kill people for gambling! GO LEO!

Heck, none of this is what I'd call must know news. And it certainly doesn't mean anything politically, yet there is an attempt to make it mean something.

David Gregory of NBC had his panties so twisted and stuffed so far up his butt he was squeeking when he spoke! What a pansy.

As one of the far east liberal elitist press establishment it is doubtful that he has ever held a firearm in his hands, let along even know what bird shot means. These people talk as though they were shooting rifles like snipers for crying out loud. The world does not revolve around the likes of David Gregory, or NBC or any of the other alphabet channels. We would get along much better if they didn't exist - hate to tell them that but they seriously need to be told that.

Now that's an ugly picture. But you can't question his manhood!

What is funny though is seeing the press clutch this story and tweek and squeeze it for all they can in hopes of having a story that finally will permanently stain the Bush/Cheney Team.

The more they squeeze, the more the American people tune out, IMHO.

"But the real damage, he said, comes from the delay in revealing the incident"

Why? Who cares? Revealing to who? The press is not owed updates on everything; they are self centered nobodies.

LOL!

Here's something else:

Sheriff's department didn't investigate incident until next day

Katharine Armstrong, one of the owners of the ranch, said the priority was to address Whittington's injuries, and thus it didn't occur to the family to contact the authorities.

"The sheriff came the next morning and took a statement." Armstrong said. "It did not even occur to me. It was not like somebody had robbed a filling station. It was not like a criminal thing."

None in the hunting party was drinking alcohol, Armstrong said.

"No, zero, zippo and I don't drink at all," she said. "No one was drinking".

LOL!

Actually, I heard that Cheney was not hunting, so he didn't need the stamp on the license.

According to some unnamed sources a sharp MSM investigative reporter leaked the information that: Mr. Cheney was "performing a ritualistic human sacrifice when something went horribly wrong." According to those same unnamed sources the Whitehouse was aware of this fact and was attempting a cover-up!

This is breaking news!!! Stay informed by tuning in to the MSM.

They act like Cheney should have called the WH press corps before heading to the hospital.

And here's my question: Why wasn't they there?

Why wasn't they there?

If you really want to know....It's rural, really rural. It has no night life to speak of except maybe a C/W Saturday night dance at some country dance hall within fifty miles. It's made up mostly of 4th to 5th Generation Germans, Polacks, and Hispanic. They are not impressed by strangers, Yankees, and City Dudes. San Antonio is about 70 miles away. In the Summer it's hot and dusty. This time of year it's considered cold and dusty. More dust now than normal, we are having a drought. Daytime temps for the last 2 months have been mostly High 60's low 80's. (Don't tell anybody, we brag about our Texas Northers to keep them away.) I guess I took the long way of saying it's an area we Texans think of as a pretty good place to live and they think of as Hell.

What chaps me is the latest AP report I've seen, which seems to imply our VP was shooting at a bird 100-150 yards away:

[Cheney and another hunter, Pamela Willeford, the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland, moved on to another covey of quail - Armstrong estimated it was roughly 100-150 yards away - and Cheney fired on a bird just as Whittington rejoined them. She said Whittington was in tall grass and thick brush about 30 yards away, which made it difficult for Cheney to see him, although both men were wearing bright-orange safety vests. She said Whittington made a mistake by not vocally announcing that he had walked up to rejoin the hunting line.]

This article suggests that Cheney was shooting at a dove much farther away than anybody would ever attempt to shoot at. If the lawyer was in between him and his target, then the fact that he didn't announce himself and was obscured in the tall grass would tend to exonerate Cheney that much more, in my opinion. But there's no way in heck Cheney was shooting at a dove 100-150 yards away. They must have moved 100-150 yards while the lawyer was shooting at and retrieving his bird. But the AP wants people to believe otherwise, apparently.

I've got personal experience with the know what's behind your target rule - I was once shot from 100 yards or so while waiting next to a truck while my buddy and his dogs guided a friend and his miscreant wife who thought it was perfectly fine to shoot at a bird with a big stationary SUV in the background.

What I heard her say was that Whittington actually got a bird, went to get it and put it in the truck, and then was catching up to the group when the covey flushed; she also said that Whittington was between Cheney and the sunset.
