White House under fire over Cheney shooting (A Citizen informs the Press, how dare they!!!)

WASHINGTON - President Bush knew Saturday evening that Vice President Dick Cheney had accidentally shot a hunting companion, but the information wasn’t made public until the next day by a private citizen, the White House acknowledged Monday.

In a contentious media briefing, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Cheney’s staff was focused on making sure that the shooting victim, Texas attorney Harry Whittington, was receiving adequate medical care after the shooting on the private Armstrong Ranch in south Texas. Whittington and Cheney were hunting quail together.

I heard Ron Reagan Jr. parrot your opinions on Mr. Cheney yesterday.

Or are you parroting him?

I just looked up from my computer to see a herd of deer in my backyard, approx. 30 yards away. I didn't see them two minutes ago.

Things happen very fast when you are out in the field hunting.

>>>I forgot to add; the only thing a reporter would know about "shot," is what they consume in a bar.<<<

Exactly! They wouldnt know which end of a gun to point where. They are the eastern liberal elites, who don't know diddly about what goes on in red state America.

BTW, the young Texas reporter who got the scoop is HOT! A beautiful young lady, who speaks very well when confronted by media idiots like Matthews and Olbermann. All the more reason for the Helen Thomases of the White House Press Corps to be green with envy!

Yes, things happen very fast. Which is why you do things like maintaining your zone of fire. Things happen way too fast for you to worry about what will happen if you swing beyond the limits of your cone. So you maintain it, and make sure it is clear. And, most importantly, don't shoot outside of it.

It must be wonderful to be absolutely perfect in all things, like you!

The real reason the mediots are angry is this exposes them for what they are. They aren't "journalists," they are pretty (and in some cases not so pretty) faces that pass on what they're spoon-fed.

Make stuff up much?

Nowhere did I claim to be perfect.

However, I do follow firearms safety rules. And, if I violated them and hurt someone, the last thing I would do is try to blame the person I hurt.

It doesn't take your fabled 'perfection' to shoot only in front of you. Just a little care and discipline.

When I was 12, a neighbor of mine blew the face off of another neighbor, a 14-year-old girl - because he didn't follow basic firearms safety rules. It didn't take any more than that for me to learn that you follow the rules because things you don't expect sometimes happen - and if you follow the rules, those unexpected things don't hurt or kill people.

Those who treat those rules in a cavalier fashion because the VP was involved in this incident do a disservice to gun safety awareness and gun ownership in general.

Now, you got any response that relates to the issue? Or are you so limited that lame attempts at criticizing me personally are all you have?

Biggest concern from the press seems to be that they were scooped by a local newspaper.

The "almighty" press must not be trifled with.

You are against gun safety rules and gun safety training? Tell it to the NRA.

A private ranch is where booze and wild women are allowed to be...with no law enforcement. My dad told me about such places in my youth and said..."son, stay on the farm...ain't nothing but pain and suffering at them private ranches". Dad was right. I coulda been the one shot by Cheney. Thank God I don't hang out with that crowd.

I understand it was #8 from a 28 ga. I've never had any need for anything more than 7-1/2 in my 12's (which is all I own) for shooting pheasant and clays. I want to move onto a 20 since the recoil factor is getting to me as I get older.

I've found that now that I use "Move Mount Shoot"
I get more "birds" now with my 20Ga. than I did with my 12Ga.
I reload only Remington STS with 7 1/2.
I do reload some with 9 shot for "rabbits".

I take it you don't know the Armstrong family and have never been on their ranch? BTW how did your father come by this odd knowledge?

I did not hear Ron Reagan Jr.'s comments, but I'd guess they were at least in part politically motivated.

When I have political differences with this administration I'm candid about them, but in this case my reaction was purely "personal" and based on my experience with people who experienced such problems.

I hope you are right about that.

The press has been marginalized by the internet, blogs, and talk radio. The only thing left is to have the White House get their messages out going around the MSM.

The MSM feels they should control all news and that it will be as THEY report it. Time to show them that they do not control the news flow in America.

I will thoroughly enjoy watching their tantrums.

Wonder what kind of message will reach the American public if not filtered through the propaganda screen of the MSM.

As I said on another thread, the press ought to get out into the bush and do some hunting for a change instead of laying around the hotel pool and sucking down Pina Coladas all the time.
