Sir Ian McKellen has said openly gay US actors are prevented from having successful Hollywood careers.
"It is very, very, very difficult for an American actor who wants a film career to be open about his sexuality," the gay British actor said.
"And even more difficult for a woman if she's lesbian. It's very distressing to me that that should be the case."
The Lord of the Rings star added: "The film industry is very old fashioned in California."
He was speaking at the Berlin Film Festival, where he received a lifetime achievement award.

Sir McKellen is right!! It is difficult for gay actors to succeed in Hollywood...
Well, except for Ellen Degeneres, KD Lang, Portia de Rossi, Nathan Lane, Wilson Cruz, Rosie O'Donnell, George Takei, David Hyde Pierce, and many others!

"And even more difficult for a woman if she's lesbian. It's very distressing to me that that should be the case." Actually, I could post proof of how many lesbians have successful film careers, but this is a family-oriented site. let's just say that Jenna Jameson isn't doing too bad these days.

oh and, who really gives a crap? Maybe they know that "openly gay" means pushing their agenda on everyone within earshot. I wouldnt put a guy like that in my movie b/c I know it doesnt sit well with the majority of Americans.
I bet the porn industry is ripe with oppurtunity for the sodomizers.

Are there any non-homer actors in Hollywierd? I'm sure there are a dozen or so who aren't homosexuals... not that there's anything wrong with that.

Might not matter for actors (?) like KD Lang, but imagine if Steven Segal was gay. It would make his characters unbelievable, and the stories pointless. Yeah, imagine if Tom Cruise was gay - it would make his characters unbelievable, and the stories pointless. That's totally beyond my comprehention, so Tom Cruise must not be gay.
