Here's an example of the federal War on Drugs doing more harm than good.

You need to elaborate on that comment. I think you point is a re-hashing of complaints about federal dollars being spent on drug policing, but an argument could be made here that people who are concerned about illegal immigration are getting a two-fer on this one. Theoretically, the more DEA agents we have hanging around the border, the fewer undocumented lettuce pickers we have to worry about, right?

Mexico is corrupt and until the people of Mexico stand up against corruption, it will continue to be that way

There are innocent people starving in a lot of the world, what does that have to do with the cesspool to the south and the invasion of our southern border?

I agree, but we have to be careful, if Mexico loses too much and declines too far, then the drug cartels will gain possible total control of the country's governing offices.

Well, we are good people and if we can give direction or the help of food for small periods of time we do it around the world.
I think we do care about our neighbor to the south slipping into worse than third world status.

I think we care about our own national sovereignty. Well, some of us anyway.

I think Mexico is at a crossroads right now.
Where I think we have a concern regarding it is there is a chance the drug cartels could outright take over the country, which would turn Mexico into like having Iran next door.

So do I, I want nice big walls to keep the illegals out and I think that also allows the border to be patrolled only needing 25% of the people they would with an non-walled area.

As an example of us being nice around the world and helping people, yes.
I don't fault our giving side to try and reduce aids in Africa, murder in other places and to feed at times the North Korean people.
We are nice folks, but that doesn't mean we therefore should be expected to leave our borders open to anyone at anytime.
I think that would be retarded like leaving your front door of your home unlocked and advertising that fact in all the local papers.

I guess that was a trick question.

Slipped secretly into some bill (perhaps CAFTA?) was more money to protect Mexico's southern border. That's right - MEXICO's SOUTHERN BORDER. What a bunch of crooks and cronies we have in government.
