US group implants electronic tags in workers
Financial Times ^ | 2/12/06 | Richard Waters

Posted on 02/12/2006 4:28:09 PM PST by wagglebee

An Ohio company has embedded silicon chips in two of its employees - the first known case in which US workers have been “tagged” electronically as a way of identifying them.

CityWatcher.com, a private video surveillance company, said it was testing the technology as a way of controlling access to a room where it holds security video footage for government agencies and the police.

Embedding slivers of silicon in workers is likely to add to the controversy over RFID technology, widely seen as one of the next big growth industries.

RFID chips – inexpensive radio transmitters that give off a unique identifying signal – have been implanted in pets or attached to goods so they can be tracked in transit.

“There are very serious privacy and civil liberty issues of having people permanently numbered,” said Liz McIntyre, who campaigns against the use of identification technology.

But Sean Darks, chief executive of CityWatcher, said the glass-encased chips were like identity cards. They are planted in the upper right arm of the recipient, and “read” by a device similar to a cardreader.

“There’s nothing pulsing or sending out a signal,” said Mr Darks, who has had a chip in his own arm. “It’s not a GPS chip. My wife can’t tell where I am.”

The technology’s defenders say it is acceptable as long as it is not compulsory. But critics say any implanted device could be used to track the “wearer” without their knowledge.

VeriChip – the US company that made the devices and claims to have the only chips that have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration – said the implants were designed primarily for medical purposes.

So far around 70 people in the US have had the implants, the company said.

"I've wracked my brain trying to figure out the reasoning behind the above thought, and I can't."

Law-abiding US Citizens have chip. Illegals and terrorists don't. Police scan. Chip = good person. No chip = bad person.

Better?

That's right, bad people will never get the chip implanted under false pretenses, just like they never obtain fake passports or other ID.

The network administrator for this company was on Fox & Friends the other day, and he said that it was voluntary, and NO, he had NOT had one implanted! lol

Creeping incrementalism. What is not compulsory today will be compulsory tomorrow - next week - next year. However long it takes to make the idea acceptable.

"See, the funds for the chipping are being made available from the NGOs. With that funding comes a signing of the freedom of information act. The data is collected to a GLOBAL database."

You just won't come out and say it clearly: You oppose a technology that that the DoD has repeatedly stated will EASE ITS JOB OF COMBATANT identification, and that law enforcement and border control agents have said will FACILITATE THE CULLING OF ILLEGALS.

Why are you for the illegals?

Are you a U.S. Citizen or a U.N. Citizen?

Asked and answered.

WISH WE COULD SAY THE SAME ABOUT YOU, MS. RED-HERRING.

I'll go along with that. There are already plenty of ways to track anyone, an RFID has distinct advantages. The tag can contain links to all the information medical, next of kin that anyone would need. Convicts and convicted child molesters can be easily identified, kids who are kidnapped can be picked up on and located and illegals who are not tagged can be easily rounded up. If you don't fall into one of the scumbag categories you don't have to worry any more than you have to worry about the methods in place today.

I'm very blatant with my statements.

NGOs are funding the chipping.

NGOs are also funding the illegal immigrants.

Immigration NGOs:

Immigrants

Center for Immigration Studies
The Center for Immigration Studies is a non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 1985. It is the nation's only think tank devoted exclusively to research and policy analysis of the economic, social, demographic, fiscal, and other impacts of immigration on the United States.
http://www.cis.org/

National Immigration Forum
The purpose of the National Immigration Forum is to embrace and uphold America's tradition as a nation of immigrants. The Forum advocates and builds public support for public policies that welcome immigrants and refugees and that are fair and supportive to newcomers in our country.
http://www.immigrationforum.org/

National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights
NNIRR member organizations and activists utilize the network as a tool to enhance collaboration, build and develop strategy, and push thinking and analysis "outside the box" of service provision or "quick-fix" legislation. The program aims to involve, support, and empower immigrant communities to address the critical issues in their neighborhoods and workplaces.
http://www.nnirr.org/

About NGOs:

Non-governmental organization - A non-governmental organization (NGO) is an organization that is not part of a government and was not founded by states. NGOs are therefore typically independent of governments. Although the definition can technically include for-profit corporations, the term is generally restricted to social, cultural, legal, and environmental advocacy groups having goals that are primarily noncommercial. NGOs are usually non-profit organizations that gain at least a portion of their funding from private sources. Current usage of the term is generally associated with the United Nations and authentic NGOs are those that are so designated by the UN.

NGOs are creating the problems and are using their created problems to backdoor their solutions.

I'm not a UN Citizen.

What about the Mark of the Beast and 666 and all that? Can't we just have a simple shibboleth or something without making it look like we are deliberately bringing about the End Times?

Ok...let's ignore a book of virtue that predicts this VERY type of action over 2000 years ago...

How about the Nazi program of branding/numbering/coding their Jews?

Still think this technology will be used in some beneficial manner?

It's no different from a brand, or a S.S. number, or any other method where an out-of-control Ruling Eeee-lite will exert as much control as the sheeple allow.

Live on your knees, do not expect others to do so willingly...outside of the usual "Cult of Bush" types that is.

Just curious where you'd draw the line. Cameras in the home, perhaps? You shouldn't have to worry about any abuses of power that flow from that, because if you're not in any of the scumbag categories, you wouldn't be bothered by anyone.

Just thought to mention something reading through this thread:

Moby and His Infiltration Scheme

Its either that, or I'd almost label some of the folks ( and its pretty easy to figure out who they are ) certifiable.

Great.

When will the 666 be stamped across our foreheads?

However for ALL sex offenders, Muslims, and illegals who are caught, it makes sense.

Not to me it doesn't. Once it starts with anyone, it'll spread. It needs to be stamped out completely.

Speaking honestly, in my case, they can do it to my lifeless body, 'cause it won't happen any other way.
