....when this could have been resolved towards the beginning by requesting a couple of documents to see if it was even possible for a crime to have been committed. Am I missing something here?
Nope, not at all. Many of us here have been wondering the same thing since even before Libby was indicted.

If the Court had looked into the aspect of job discrimination FIRST, it never would have got to the point of questioning Clinton under oath, and he never would have been tempted to lie and to get Monica to lie too. The court does not look into anything, the parties present evidence and the court judges. Clinton's defense should have entered a Motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim upon which relief can be granted under FRCP 12b6 in the first instant rather than answer the complaint.

Perphaps in this case the determination that there was no crime based on her status could have and should have been made before Libby testified. Yes, and it was wholly up to Fitzgerald to make that determination. Fitzgerald screwed the pooch and his indictment of Libby is a misplaced attempt to salvage something from this mess.

Was it totally up to Fitzgerald? What was the DOJ during their several months of investigation before they called him in:
Comey also said: "It's fair to say that an accumulation of facts throughout the course of the investigation over the last several months has led us to this point." (From the press conference when Comey announced Fitzgerald)

Both the Cliton's default position is to lie even if the truth is in their favor.

Was it totally up to Fitzgerald? No, but a determination of no crime by the DOJ would have been a political firestorm.

I would think that Fitz has a problem....

I remember reading that WAPO reporter Walter Pincus had a 4th of July barbeque at the Wilson home back in 2003. Seems funny that Fitzmas probed the whitehouse for "outing" a covert agent when that covert agent has reporters over to the house.

Anal Fiztgerald is lying through his teeth. You can tell by his eyes, his manner of speech, facial expressions, ... Any one who has any experience questioning suspects would come to this conclusion immediately upon watching this guy. He's not being truthful and he knows it.
To: Cboldt
Even though Cboldt's account is suspended I'm going to take a shot at answering his post.
Simply, the Jones v Clinton case was initiated on legitimate grounds whereas Fitz's didn't.

Correct
A profiler would spot Fitz as a sociopath
Most young children would spot Fitz as someone their parents told them to stay far away from
Anyone competent in management, sales, public relations could instantly see that at Fitz's stage-managed jury-tampering presser
I am surprised Patty Fitz did not go on Letterman to to pre-sell the book he is working on
His term is shortly up and barring a democrat in the White House his career is toast now
If you recall Fitz was a prosecutor in the criminal court trial of the Muslims who bombed the WTC in 1993
Slick Willie really stopped the terrorists cold with that classic idiotic solution
Fitz is an *odd blend of Joe Wilson, Ralph Nader, and Ramsey Clark
My edit changed another *word to "odd"
